Thesis: While most claim to be in support of individual rights, current evidence such as the

defunding of Planned Parenthood, an executive order barring immigration, and the present

wage gap show that the world in which we live has stripped these rights away.
I. INTRODUCTION
A. When you think of minority, you might think of race and sexual orientation as a factor
B. According to Ayn rands quote, the smallest minority on the earth is the individual
C. While most claim to be in support of individual rights, current evidence such as the

defunding of Planned Parenthood, an executive order barring immigration, and the

present wage gap show that the world in which we live has stripped these rights away.
II. DEFUNDING OF PLANNED PARENTHOOD
A. Why PP is being defunded
1. Executive order signed that keeps federal funding from organizations that promote

abortion
a. Donald Trump and most of the people in his presidential cabinet is pro-life
(1) Pro-life denies the rights of women; takes away the right to choose for their

own body
B. How Planned Parenthood helps people
1. Provides services at affordable costs
a. Services to maintain sexual health
(1) Abortion/birth control
(2) Pregnancy
(3) Sexual health (STDs)
b. General healthcare services
(1) Vaccines
(2) Testings
(3) Screenings
III. EXECUTIVE ORDER ON IMMIGRATION
A. Trump signed executive order that bars refugees and citizens of 7 Muslim countries
1. Citizens of Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen
a. People are being denied entry even with a green card (as a permanent citizen)
b. Denying people based on their religion in fear that they are terrorists
IV. WAGE GAP
A. Women make 78 cents to a mans dollar
1. Men get paid more for doing the same job
B. Happens for many reasons
1. Sex discrimination
a. Refusal to hire, promote, or fairly pay women
b. Undervaluing women workers

(1) Not taken seriously by male employers/colleagues

(2) Choose males strengths and deeper voices even when womens

strengths/communication can do the job just as well

2. Occupational segregation
a. 2/3 of working US women make up 21 of 500 occupational categories, but are

still paid less

3. Taxing motherhood
a. Taking time off after having a child resulted in discrimination
(1) Colleagues treat new mothers as unreliable and unpromotable
(2) Refusing to recognize productivity
V. CONCLUSION
A. In the end, unless you support the rights of the individual, you are not a defender of

minorities
B. The defunding of planned parenthood, the executive order against immigration, and the

wage gap between genders show that the world isnt quite ready to defend the minorities
