    The Cement Bond Log (CBL) uses sound pulses to continuously measure cement bonding between casing and formation. There are 6 main interpretation models: 1) Good cement with low amplitude and strong formation signals on the Variable Density Log (VDL), 2) No cement with high amplitude and straight VDL signals, 3) Partial cement with moderate amplitude and both casing and formation signals on the VDL, 4) Microannulus (small gap) with moderate amplitude and mixed signals that can be confirmed with pressure testing, 5) Cement not bonded to formation with low amplitude but no casing/formation signals, and 6) Cement bond in hard formations with alternating low and high amplitudes and formation signals covering casing signals.
