Columns are groupings of units that create the main structure of your page. i.e.: 2
col- umn grid, 3 column grid, 4 column grid.
Half-Columns are exactly that: the width of half of your column based on your unit
increments. Half-columns are a good place to start captions, small photos
and quotes.
Gutters are the gaps in between columns/ units. They provide consistent spac-
ing between text and images.
Margins are the top, bottom, left and right borders you set up to contain your
grid. The margins you set can place your grid symmetrical or asymmetrical on
your page.
The Purpose of Grid
The grid is a professional tool of objectivity in
applied aesthetics, and its practical purposes fall
