ABSTRACT

NURSING CARE OF DIABETES MELLITUS WITH THE CHANGES IN


NUTRITIONAL NEEDS LESS THAN BODY IN ROOM ASOKA AT RSUD

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycemia


due to lack of the hormone insulin, decreasing the effects of insulin or both. Data
from medical records Hospital Dr. R. Koesma Tuban found the number of clients
DM in the last 3 years has increased, but the number of clients died increase. The
purpose of this research is to describe the nursing care of diabetes mellitus by
changes in nutrition less than body requirements.

The study design used is descriptive in the form of case studies with the nursing
process approach that includes assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning,
implementation, and evaluation. Subjects of research used in nursing research are
two DM client with changes in nutrition less than body requirements in the room
Asoka Hospital Dr. R. Koesma Tuban.

The results of case studies show that after a 3x24 hour nursing care for the client 1
has demonstrated BB: 52kg, BMI: 17.9, GDS: 220mg / dL, clients can spend
portions RS, the client 2 BB: 50kg, BMI: 17 , 98, GDS: 145mg / dL, a client could
spend half portions RS.

The nursing care is expected nurses perform actions that can increase appetite felt
by both clients. Thus, in the provision of nursing care need to work together not
only with other medical teams, but also with the client and family to watch over
the correct lifestyle so there is no recurrence of the disease and its complications.
