Relation of excitation system to stability problem

The excitation system affects both steady state and transient stability conditions.

As power transmitted along a transmission line is proportional to the product of internal voltages of the
of the two machines in a 2 machine system and inversely proportional to reactance. Even whrn
calculated more rigorously, the power is increased if any of the internal voltage is increased. These
statements holds regarding to the particular value of angular separation and hence also for maximum
power. It is also true for multimachine system. Therefore it is apparent that raising the internal voltage
increases the stability limits.
