4th-5th Grade Small Group Week 1

Get Their Attention! (5 minutes)


Materials: Spinner

INTRODUCE yourself, and then say:

Welcome to Spin It to Win It, a brand new series where we are playing
awesome games & seeing how in everything we do we WIN because Jesus
loves us.

PLAY a game to get to know each other using the Spinner:

Need to Know: 1. Have one child flick the spinner.


I Can Believe Gods 2. When the spinner stops, look at who it is pointing to!
Promises! 3. The child who flicked the spinner should pinky promise (link pinkies) with the
child the spinner is pointing to, and then they can tell the group their names.
INTRODUCE kids to what we are learning today:
Bible Story:
John is Born Just like we can pinky promise, God promises you and me SO many things! The
Luke 1:5-25, 57-80 difference is that God ALWAYS keeps His promises, and we can BELIEVE each
one that He makes.

FOLLOW the instructions on the Bible Story Page.

Filler Guide After the story, ASK:

1. In this story, what promises did God make? (That Zechariah and Elizabeth
would have a son and that God would send a Savior)
2. True or False: God kept His promises. (True)

3. Do you have a hard time keeping your promises? (Allow responses)

The good news is that God always keeps His promises! Since God keeps His
promises, we can believe what He says!
Thats what we need to know today! Lets say it like Zechariah did when he
couldnt talk! Everyone keep your mouths closed & say:
I Can Believe Gods Promises!

ASK kids to close their eyes & bow their heads. Model prayer for kids by PRAYING:

Heavenly Father, thank you for always keeping your promises. Help us to
always believe what you say! We love you. Amen.
