Prior Knowledge (What prior knowledge are you building in?)


Students will start a new unit in this week about puzzles and codes. In this lesson they have
a puzzle story and they have to solve it. The prior knowledge that they will build in this
lesson is discussing about the food they eat in a barbecue (food vocabulary). Moreover,
students will reinforce the understanding of use capital letters for names. Also, students will
build more information about the proposition of place as they already know some such as
up, down, right and left.
Lesson Objectives: (What will students be able to do by the end of the lesson?)
o Students will understand and use the new vocabulary the preposition of places
(opposite, between and next to).
o Students will read the puzzle story with the teacher (The students will read the story
with the teacher to improve their reading).
o Students will solve a puzzle with clues as they will read the sentences of the puzzle
(They will solve two puzzle story one with the teacher and the other one individually).

Attitudes:

o Respect each other opinions (I will ask them open questions so they have to
respect each other opinions and responses).
o Its acceptable to make mistakes. (Students might mispronounce some words
while they repeating the vocabulary and the sentences and I should mention to
them you should try and its fine to make mistakes).
o To work cooperatively (Students should work cooperatively to accomplish any
task I assign to them as group work).
o Respect each other thinking (As this unit all about puzzles so they have to
understand that people think differently and some need more time to

understand and some need less time).

Knowledge/Understanding:

o Students will increase their learning about different preposition of place


vocabulary.
o Students will apply the knowledge that they have learned to solve some
questions.
o Students will increase their knowledge and awareness of how to solve puzzles.
Skills:
Speaking: To speak about food and the story.
Reading: To solve a puzzle with clues as they will read the sentences of the puzzle.
Writing: To write the preposition of place when answering the activity.
Listening: listen to the teacher instructions and follow.
Evaluation / Assessment: (How will you know your students have achieved the
lesson objectives?)
In this lesson I will use different types of assessment such as observing students while they
are working on their activity. I will monitor students while they are working and give them
the support if they need and help them. It is vitally important to check students frequently in
the lesson and check their understanding to know if they achieved the lesson objectives or
not. Second, as an assessment I will let students at the end of the lesson stand up and
choose one partner or two and choose one preposition word and act it with their friend and
say their sentences. In this stage I will assess students understanding and check if they
understand the lesson or not and I will write how many students still struggle to review in
the next lesson.
Personal focus
In this lesson I am working on one of my PDP goals which is using the technology in my
lesson. I will use the presentation tool to explain my whole lesson. First about me I will see if
it makes a difference to my lesson and how I feel about using it. Regarding the students I will
see if it works effectively, if it benefits and helps the student and how they react to it. I will
observe the students and after the lesson I will write reflection about how I feel and how the
students react to it.
Teaching Competencies focus
In this lesson I am working on planning for learning and I think it is essential for teaching and
I should develop it through practice. Planning for learning means that the teacher ready
before the lesson and think about her lesson and planned well. First, in this lesson plan I
explained everything in detail and think about all the aspects regarding my teaching and my
lesson especially. Second, this lesson is a puzzle story and it links to the large unit which is
puzzles and codes. Third, I planned for learning objectives which is testable which means I
can test them through the lesson and see students understanding and progression. Fourth, I
also plan for formative assessment which is clear and will show if students understand the
main concepts or not which is the presupposition of place and how to solve puzzles. I had
planned for different strategies that will help the students to understand the preposition of
place easily and will help to stick on their mind. Fifth, I had planned for engaged lesson and
it will help to attract students attention such as there will be a big picture of the story and I
will let students act the preposition of place words together. These are my different actions

toward achieving this competence.

Teaching Strategies:

Teaching strategies: using modeling strategy such as model sentences for them by
write it in the board, using dialogue teacher to students and student to student. Also,
I will link the lesson to their own experience to maximum students interest for
instance, I will ask them about their best food and if they like barbecue or not.
Classroom management strategies: using the rules and remind the students of
them, use gestures because that affect a lot on students and manage the class. Also,
I will use phrases to stop them from work and the one that I been using it with them
is stop, look and listen and they replay we are listening. Moreover, I will use MENTOS
because it include every aspect related to manage the classroom.
Behavioral management strategies: using eye contact for example; when any
student misbehave I will look into their eyes until they stop misbehaving, use ripple
effect by correct students behavior so it affects positively in the other students
(Kounins theory). Also, if someone misbehave I will stop the class and say when you
finish just tell me and I will use it in serious situations.
Feedback strategies: Use verbal feedback such as good, very good, excellent, good
job, well done, think about it and all these verbal feedback depends on the students
response. Expanding this kind of feedback; during discussion time I will give students
feedback on their responses to let them think more about the issue that they have to
discuss it.

lesson to their own experience so this is will increase their motivation and engagement
through the lesson. Besides, it will help to grab their attention at the beginning of the lesson
so hopefully it will be a good start.
