ASSESSMENT FOR CO-OPERATIVE PLACEMENT

Report on industry experience

Length: 2000 2500 words

You are required to submit a report on your industry experience, irrespective of

whether the experience was undertaken with private industry, a research
organization or factory. A separate report is required for each Co-op placement.
Placement of two or more consecutive Co-ops in the same organisation will still
require submission of separate reports for each Co-op, and your reports must be
less than 20% identical.

Your report should be submitted to the Administration Office at the Faculty of

Applied Science within 2 weeks of completing your industry placement.

Failure to meet this deadline will have the following consequences:

1. Submission after Two (2) weeks, but before Four (4) weeks, will result in a 10%
penalty to the report grade.
2. Later than Four (4) weeks will result in a FAIL grade.

The report should document the following:

a) an introduction to the company which include the description of the

plant/institution(s), stating its name, location and production (or research)
undertaken;

b) the processes and equipment involved in research techniques or production

that were undertaken;

c) your involvement with the company/institution(s), what you learnt from this
involvement, and what further reading or other activities (seminars, tours,
workshops) were undertaken to increase your knowledge of the area in which
you were working;

Rationale:
The rationale for this report is to enable you to reflect on your industry experience
and document your learning outcomes. It is very important to be able to reflect on
your experience, assess the level of expertise you have developed, and articulate
this succinctly to others. The ability to articulate your skills to others will be very
useful for developing your career.

Grading:
Supervisors report 50%
Students report 50%
Total: 100%

Criteria:

Your report will be assessed and given marks which are 50% of the total, marked
against the following criteria:

1. Does the report contain the following?

A cover page as per FAS format
A summary of your report (Summary of Co-Op Report) attached to the
report.
A description of the company/institution where the experience was gained
and the production (or research) undertaken.
A description of the processes and equipment involved in the facility
where the experience was gained;
A description of the knowledge and skills you have acquired through your
involvement with the company
Your comments (if any) on how the production or research can be
improved.

2. Is the report within the allocated word limit?

Op commencement

2- On completion of your industry experience

c. Supervisors Approval Form

- Verified and approved by supervisor and attach with Co-Op
Report)

d. Employer Testimonial

e. Co-Op Student Evaluation Form

- filled up and verified by the supervisor and seal with envelope

f. Co-Op Placement Experience Survey Form

- filled up by the student

office within 2 weeks of completing the respective industry placement(s).
Please ensure that your report has been read by your Co-Op supervisor
before he/she completes the Supervisors Approval Form.
The Summary of Co-Op Report and the Supervisors Approval Form
should be attached together with the report.

Q1. In general, throughout the partnership with UCSI University on the Co-Operative
Education Placement Programme (Internship) what has impressed / benefited you the
most? Please explain.
I am impressed by the universities aim to expose students that are just in their first year to
working enviroments which allows them to pick up involvement, create aptitudes, make
associations, reinforce their resumes, learn about a field, and survey their advantages and
capacities. Creating an internship program also allowed my company to upgrade the nearby
workforces and help students get started. This program has resulted in an increment in my
companies profitability by helping my workers to be more productive, keeping them from getting
overburdened by side undertakings, and in addition free them up to achieve more inventive
errands or those where more elevated amount, key intuition or aptitude is required.

Q2. Being an employer, what is the advice that you would give to the UCSI University
applicants who are interested in applying for a Co-Op Placement internship / permanent
position at your organization?
Applicants for internship and permanent position must have these four important skills and those
are, communication punctuality, leadership and ability to work under pressure. They also must be
able to converse good english, bahasa and preferably tamil.
