Clampingforcecanbecalculatedbymultiplyingtheprojectedareaoftheimpressionincluding
runners,gateoverflowbytheinjectionpressure.Theresultshouldbelessthantheclampingforceofthe
machine.Theinjectioncapabilityormetalpumpingcapacityofthemachinemustbedeterminedfrom
thepQ2diagram.
Theflowsystemcomprisesofaseriesofpassageofvaryinglengthsanddiameterswhichcarrymolten
alloyatvaryinghighvelocitiesfromtheundersideoftheinjectionplungertothegate.

Generalguidelinesforgatepositioning:
Centergating:Centergatingoffersthebestfeedingconfiguration.Itpermitstheuseofshortdirect
feedsystem.Itachievesanidealflowpathacrossthediecavity.
Edgegatingsusingtaperedtangentialrunners:
Thefollowingaretherecommendations:
Thelongestuninterruptedlengthofcastingavailableforcastingshouldbechoosebutitmustsatisfy
theshortestandsmoothestflowpathacrossthecavity.
Thedirectionofmetalflowinthecavitysho9uldbechosensuchthatatleastonesideorcornerbe
openduringfilltimetoallowforventing.

Overflows:Nooverflowsneedbecutpriortothefirstcastingtrialunlesstheiruseisspecifiedfor
ejectionpurpose.Ontrialifthecastingsexhibitpoorfinishorblisterthefollowingconditionsmustbe
checkedfirst:
