Description of Learning Goals, Standards, Objectives


CC/GPSs: S1E1. Students will observe, measure, and communicate weather
data to see patterns in weather and climate.

a. Identify different types of weather and the characteristics of each type.

Standards:
Students leverage technology to take an active role in choosing,
achieving and demonstrating competency in their learning goals,
informed by the learning sciences. Students:

leveraging technology to achieve them and reflect on the learning
process itself to improve learning outcomes.

that support the learning process.

Long-Term Learning Goal Students will learn their basic types of weather(sunny, partly cloudy,
or Outcome: cloudy, rain, snow, thunder and lighting)

ABCD Objectives or By the end of the lesson students will be able to identify and classify at
Outcomes: least 5 major types of weather by recreating the concept map shown in
class.

Description of Assessment
Assessment Plan: At the end of the lesson students should be able to identify the weather
by using weather-picture-word-cards and stating the correct weather
when seeing the cards.

At the end of the week students should be able to recreate the concept
map shown in class.

Description of Activities with Technology and Materials


Activity Design: Single Day Lesson - End of Week Test

Class starter and lesson connection: Opening Question: Have you ever wonder what
is going on outside?

Class Participation: Who knows what a dry and


hot day is called?
Who knows what a cold, ice day is called?
Who knows what a wet, slippery day is?

Teacher and student activities: Prior Knowledge Participation: Who knows the
most different types of weather?

Teacher Lecture: A six part mini-lecture on the


different weather with concept map.

Student Activity: Students will go to the smart


board and hover over the various weather
pictures to hear names.

Technology Connection: Technology Used: Interactive Concept Map on


Smart Board.
