    AttorneyGeneralJeffSessionstodayissuedthefollowingstatement:

    DuringthecourseoftheconfirmationproceedingsonmynominationtobeAttorneyGeneral,IadvisedtheSenate
    JudiciaryCommitteethat[i]faspecificmatterarosewhereIbelievedmyimpartialitymightreasonablybequestioned,I
    wouldconsultwithDepartmentethicsofficialsregardingthemostappropriatewaytoproceed.

    Duringthecourseofthelastseveralweeks,IhavemetwiththerelevantseniorcareerDepartmentofficialstodiscuss
    whetherIshouldrecusemyselffromanymattersarisingfromthecampaignsforPresidentoftheUnitedStates.

    Havingconcludedthosemeetingstoday,Ihavedecidedtorecusemyselffromanyexistingorfutureinvestigationsofany
    mattersrelatedinanywaytothecampaignsforPresidentoftheUnitedStates.

    Ihavetakennoactionsregardinganysuchmatters,totheextenttheyexist.

    Thisannouncementshouldnotbeinterpretedasconfirmationoftheexistenceofanyinvestigationorsuggestiveofthe
    scopeofanysuchinvestigation.

    ConsistentwiththesuccessionorderfortheDepartmentofJustice,ActingDeputyAttorneyGeneralandU.S.Attorneyfor
    theEasternDistrictofVirginiaDanaBoenteshallactasandperformthefunctionsoftheAttorneyGeneralwithrespectto
    anymattersfromwhichIhaverecusedmyselftotheextenttheyexist.
