5.6. REINFORCING STEEL

Steel for main and secondary reinforcement shall be Type 2 hot rolled deformed high yield bars
and shall comply with BS EN 10080 and BS EN 4449 with a minimum yield strength of 460
N/mm2.

Fabric reinforcement of Grade 500 shall comply with the requirements of BS 4483 made with
cold reduced steel wire complying with BS 4482 with a minimum yield strength of 460 N/mm2.
The weights and dimensions shall be as indicated on the drawings and shall be supplied in flat
sheets. Rolls of fabric reinforcements will not be accepted.

Fusion bonded epoxy coated reinforcement shall be used only if approved by Company. Fusion
bonded epoxy coated reinforcement when used shall be in accordance with BS 7295 Parts 1 and
2. Nominal coating thickness shall be 150 to 250 microns (Not less than 100 microns but not
greater than 300 microns).

Reinforcement for pre-stressed concrete in cryogenic environment shall be suitable for cryogenic
temperatures and in accordance with EN 1008.

Manufacturer's test certificates giving the results of mechanical and chemical tests for all
reinforcement types shall be submitted by Sub-contractor for Company/EPC Contractor approval.

5.7. REINFORCEMENT SPACERS

Reinforcing spacers shall be used to ensure the correct spacing of the reinforcing from the
outside edge of the structural designed section. The spacers shall be Company/EPC-Contractor
approved proprietary reinforcement spacers manufactured from an inert material (such as
UPVC).

Spacers made of shall not be used.

Reinforcing spacers between reinforcing layers shall consist of steel reinforcing cut and bent to
ensure the tolerance as specified in BS 8666 or ACI SP-66 Detailing Manual.

5.8. ANCHOR BOLTS

Anchor bolts shall be in accordance with Document No. 23-99-75-1605, Specification for
Anchor Bolts and Fixing and Drawing No. 23.99.76.1604, Concrete Standards Anchor Bolt
Details.

5.9. WATER STOPS

Waterstops shall be factory preformed ribbed type 10 mm minimum thickness in accordance


with BS 2571 for PVC or ASTM D395 and ASTM D2240 and shall be done in accordance with
manufactures instruction.
