b) Promotion and Activations for companies like Microsoft, Colors, Quatar Airways
c) Signature Event like Holi Ustav, Asian Paints as partners
d) Corporate Events like dealers meet, retailers meet
e) Concerts like Nepathya

L1. As an entrepreneur we should not stick to only one idea. We should be as creative as
possible and try new things out without a fear of failure. Every new start can take us to the
leaning and succeeding phase. Being constant is not a key to success.

2) Can you please tell us about how you organize your events and accomplish them?

A2. They do not function totally within the organization. For printing materials all the
operation is done within the organization and for the rest of the activities like catering, stage
decoration outsourcing is done. Service charge is taken for the activities. Customers are
informed about the the expenses that take place for the event. Minimum margin are kept to
avoid over expenses and wastage.

L2. Being as entrepreneur, it is not possible to do all the things by ourselves. So, we should
be able to assign few of the activities to other people as well for the efficient result. If we try
to do all the things by ourselves, the result may not be that effective as no one is perfect.

3) What kinds of events are most beneficial events?

A3. Talking in terms of financial gain, the most beneficial events are concerts. Utsav Events,
earns profit of around 5-10 lakhs from the concerts itself. However, in terms of building the
network and image of the company, corporate events are more beneficial as these types of
events help to get in contact with various existing and potential customers and build customer
relationship.

L3. Profit for the company is not only in terms of money. Getting to know people from
various business backgrounds help in building networks. This can help in getting contact
with potential investors/ sponsors for the business.

4) How much is your initial investment during business startup?

A4. They started the business with very minimal amount. Each of them invested just Rs.
35,000 to start the company. They used to work using their own laptops and rented a room
for the work.

L4. If you have a passion to start something new, financial aspect does not play a major role.
We can even start a small business with a small amount.

5) Who are your major competitors?

A5. Event companies who are more into corporate events are the competitors of Utsav
events. However, there are very few companies doing experiential marketing. So, it the
advantage for Utsav Events.

L5. Bringing something new in the market is beneficial for the entrepreneurs as there is high
possibility of becoming a market leader. Similarly, the existence of the competitors in the
market is beneficial as it always encourages the entrepreneur to try something new and
different than the competitors.

6) What are the maximum budgets people would like to invest for different events? (i.e. for
wedding, thematic parties and so on)

A6. Budget differs according to the objective, kind of event and also according to the budget
of the customers. For example: If the event is of state level, they choose the glasses of high
standard which should match according to the kind of event whereas if it a small event plastic
glasses can be the ta right choice for the event.

L6. The investment in any kind of the ideas must be according to the objective. If the
objective is to meet the need of very few customers, investment may be high and vice versa.
Financial investment decision must be taken very carefully, as it determines the financial
situation and cash flow of the company.

7) In which season or month your sales volume is high?

A7. There is no specific season of their work. Sometimes, there are too much of demand
from the clients whereas there are times where there is no demand at all. But, they do not
remain idle. They are involved in various activities like branding, printing and they are even
working on bringing new product in the market.

L7. For entrepreneurs time is the most important asset. So, learning and creativity should
take place every time. Ideas can be generated at any point of time. So, mind should be in
active mode every seconds, minutes and hours.

8) Where do you see your company is coming 10 years?

A8. Event industry is still a growing industry but in Nepal it is still a new concept.
Especially, local brands do not attempt to try new things and do not believe in trial and tested
methods and have no risk taking behavior. But, there has been incremental changes in the
perception of few companies which will enable other companies too to try something new.
Seeing, the present trend, they have hope that they will be one of the leading companies in
coming 10 years.

L8. As an entrepreneur, we should always have a hope and ta positive attitude in whatever we
do. If something doesnt work it should be a learning opportunity for us and try something
new which will attract the customers and build a trust among them. Entrepreneurs cannot
