A semicolon is used to:

To combine two simple (complete) sentences which are not joined by a conjunction
(FANBOYS)
To separate complete sentences that are joined by a conjunctive adverb (example:
however)
To separate items in a list when commas alone would be confusing

Directions: Rewrite each sentence inserting the semi-colon in the correct place.

1) I am hot I am wearing a sweater and a jacket.
