Part - I
1. (a) Discuss about the importance of core, core prints and
chaplets. What are the different type of chaplets ?
Discuss clearly with figures.

control any sand system ?

(c) Find the pouring time to pour a cast iron and steel
casting separately of mass 50 kg. having average section

5. (a) With adequate diagram and proper examples discuss


about machine forging operation. State the important
advantages and limitations of the process.

process.

copper is to be avoided in presence of acetylene ?

(c) Discuss about different welding positions. 8+6+6=20

7. (a) Drawing schematic figures distinguish between a gas


cutting and gas welding torch.

(b) Write an explanatory note on metal spinning operation.

(c) With necessary diagrams discuss how bend allowance,


bend length and bending force are calculated. Discuss
about V, U and Wipping die in this regard.

8. (a) What are the main characteristics of Extrusion Process ?


Discuss the effect of die angle on the drawing force
during extrusion process.
