Questions raised:

1. What type of fish are there in the fish cages?


*Mostly Milk-fishes, very few cages have Ketong
2. How are the fishes being fed?
*They are fed manually- throwing the feeds into the fish cage
3. How many times do you feed the fishes everyday?
*Six times: 7:00 am, 9:00 am, 11:00 am, 1:00 pm, 3:00 pm, 5:00 pm
4. What feeds do you use in feeding the fishes?
*We use crumble feeds for the fingerlings. After 1 month, we begin to feed them
with starter feeds and most of the time consume almost 50 sacks of it in every cage.
After that,we use grower feeds and then the finisher feeds.
5. How many sacks of feeds does every cage consume?
*At the start,we give them 2 sacks per cage and add another 2 sacks every after 15
days.
6. Is it important to control the amount of fish food to be fed? Why?
*Yes, because if they are fed too much, it would cause fish overfeeding and the
fishes might die.
7. What are the sizes of the fish cages?
*Fish cages made out of bamboo tree- 5x5 meters per small cages and 10x10 meters
per bigger cages
*Fish cages made out of PVC tubes- 20 meters in diameter
8. How many fishes are there in every cage?
*15,000 fishes in every cage made out of bamboo and 50,000 fishes in every cage
made out of PVC tubes
9. How many months will it take to harvest the fishes?
*4 months
10. How much can you harvest in every cage?
*7 tons in every bamboo cage and 22-23 tons per PVC cages
11. Are the water temperature, weather, and depth factors that the people should
consider in constructing the fish cages and in growing the fishes?
*Yes- higher depth more fishes can be placed in the cage sand the water is more
stable
12. Is there any government or non-government office who offers any kind of help in
their fish cages? If yes, what office is it and what kind of help does this office
offer?
*Yes, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) monitors and gathers
information in the production of fishes. BFAR also helps the caretaker through
several seminars. They gave motors for small boats and nets to be used in the cages.
13. What do you think are the problems that you have observed and encountered in
the production of fishes?
* > having a hard time feeding the fishes manually
> the fishes are not fed equally
> fishes have different sizes every harvest
> another additional feeds for the fishes that are evaluated as small fishes during
harvest time
> hard to deliver the feeds into the cages during Habagat
> lack of technology that could help the fish cages and the processing of
culturing the fishes
14. If given the chance to be able to implement any possible solution or project that
could help solve the problems in the cages, what would it be?
