FINAL PAPER MODULE 15

1. What was your career goal at the beginning of the semester?

In the beginning of the semester my goal was to learn more about myself. I
wanted to know what kinds of careers suit me best and assess my skills. I also had
a goal to get an A in this course.
2. If it has changed since the beginning of the semester, what has it changed too?
My goal since the beginning has changed somewhat. My goal now is to find
a career that I would really like to pursue. I also want to reinforce my skills and
weaknesses.

3. What were your expectations of how you would make a career decision at the
beginning of the semester? How have they changed?
I thought my career choice would be mostly based on salary and
convenience. I now know that not only am I choosing a career through
convenience, but because that I will enjoy the career that I am working in.

4. What were your needs at the beginning of the semester?

In the beginning of the semester my needs were to find a career that would
suit me best. I also wanted to know what general area I would like to work in.

5. How were those needs met?

I met these needs by completing the multiple surveys and homework
assignments during this course. I learned that I would like to pursue a career in
engineering. Some careers in this area include mechanical engineer, software
developer, and architect.

6. What significant aspect did you learn about yourself from this course?
During this course I learned that I am very good at working in groups and at
solving problems. I also learned many other traits and skills that I have.

7. How did this class affect your viewpoint on your career?

At the beginning of the semester, I knew that if I wanted to pursue a career
in engineering, I would be an architect. I soon found other careers that are
interesting as well so I decided that I would much rather prefer a career in
mechanical Engineering.

8. What Module(s) were the most beneficial for you and why?
The most beneficial modules were 13 and 5. Module 5 helped me learn more
about my skills and my interest area. It also helped me discover new things about
myself. Module 15 helped me learn more about the careers that I would like to
pursue.

9. What Module(s) were the least beneficial for you and why?
The least beneficial module would be module 2. I didnt really like this
module because I felt that my careers weren't connected to my family members
careers.

10. What aspect of the course affected your career decision in a positive way?
The aspect that really affected my career decision was researching about the
career specifics, wages, benefits, and disadvantages. This helped me see if the
career that I wanted to pursue was right for me.

11. What is your number one career choice at this point in time? How are your skills,
values, interests, and personality suited for this choice?
My number one career choice at this time is mechanical engineer. This
career lines up with my skills, values, interests, and personality. I like to work
creatively and in a realistic fashion. This career offers a balance between both
skills. I also liked to work with groups of people. This career also allows you to
work collaboratively.

12. Considering your career choice, what is your plan for success, and how long will it
take for you to complete your plan?
My plan for success first begins with graduating high school. I then plan to
apply to various universities that offer courses with engineering. Once I am
accepted to a university I would apply for a part-time job to pay for my expenses. I
believe this plan can take up to 6 years after graduating from high school.

13. What can the instructor do to make this a greater learning experience?
I believe this course was a great learning experience. Some small things that
would make this course greater is if the assignments could be submitted through
google drive. This would make it easier to access the modules and to submit
documents.

Were your e-mail questions responded to in a reasonable amount of time?

I did not send any e-mails throughout this course. I believe that your
responses are quick because your grading was complete and very fast.

15. How often do you read your e-mails (once a day twice a week)?
I read my e-mails about two to three times a week. If I am expecting an e-
mail from someone, I would check my e-mail daily.

16. How many hours a week on average did you spend doing work for this course?
How much more or less was this compared to your other courses that you have
taken?
In order to complete this course I had to do about 5 hours of work in a week
on average. This course is a little more than my other courses, but I believe that it
is a very fair course.

17. Have you taken an online course before? If so what was the other course/s and
how would you rate it with your previous experience?
This is my first online course. This course was confusing at first, but with
the help of my fellow colleagues I was able to learn how this course works. I rate
this course very well since I enjoyed this experience.

18. What other comments do you have that would allow me to make this a better
experience for students in the future?
I believe this course is very beneficial. I believe this course could be better
for future students by leaving it alone. I believe this course is perfect just the way it
is.

19. What advice for success would you have for students taking this class in the
future?
Some advice that I would give to future students that are looking for success
is to make sure you do all the discussion boards. The discussion boards cannot be
turned in late and they can really affect your grade.

20. What advice would you have for someone who is considering taking this
class?
Some advice I would give to someone who is considering taking this class is
to turn in modules before the day it is due. This way, if you did something wrong,
you have time to fix it and submit it again before the assignment is late.

I know that I can do more to make the course appear more appealing. I am limited
by what you can do and the capabilities of your computer. Your answers to the
next several questions will influence how the course appears in the future.

21. Do you feel that technology requirements for the class were too much? If you
answered yes, then why.
I believe that the technology requirements were fair. The requirements for
this course were basic and they could be learned by almost everyone.

22. Do you feel that the material (My Thoughts, Assignments, Announcements, and
Discussion Board) was presented in an appropriate manner? Could they have used
some whistles, bells and buzzers? If so did you have the computer to handle it?
I believe that the material was presented very well through blackboard. As
long as you checked the announcements on what was due you were set. I had a
computer at all times through this course so it was very easy to handle.

23. If I were to have made My Thoughts available in sound would you have preferred
it that way and are you capable of listening?
I believe that if my thoughts were available in sound it would be better. I
would be capable of listening to it through my computer. This sounds like a very
good idea that could be applied to future students
