different responses to loss. In mourning, a person deals with
the grief of losing of a specific love object, and this process
takes place in the conscious mind. In melancholia, a person
grieves for a loss he is unable to fully comprehend or

E.B hates himself, for favoritism was established among his family. When he
was a child, he was very attached to his father; for his father always guided
him and treated him more lovingly than his older siblings. But afterwards (even
at the young age), E.B saw his father being intimate with other women and
physically abusing his older siblings and his mother, but not him.
Consequently, he began to hate his father and distanced himself from his
family for he blames himself or felt guilty that his father only hurts the other
family members, but not him. Therefore he started to get into drugs or listen
to music (E.g Eminem) to forget his problems.
