SCOPE OF WORK:

PREFACE

This Method of Statement (MOS) is meant for multicore cabling works extension 132kV
Transformer bay PMU 132kV Bentong South.

SAFETY PRECAUTION AND MEASURE

1. Work Planning

1.1 Site Condition


The site supervisor shall properly verify and inspect that the site / work area is safe to carry out
installation work before any work commencement. Amongst things to verify are yard condition,
trenching, isolation of live parts, obstacles and others.
Should the condition is considered not suitable to proceed with work program, site supervisor shall
highlight it to the assigned competent person / project responsible person.

1.2 Accessibility and Clearance


The site supervisor shall ensure sufficient and suitable road access for machineries to move into
and work within the work area.

The supervisor shall also ensure that the working area is within safe perimeter, for example from
live parts if any.

2. Ensuring Working Area Clearance

2.1 Barricading
If the working area is near or interfacing with live parts, a proper barricade using red and white tape
shall be established. No works shall be allowed to be carried out outside the designated area. The
area shall be defined by the competent person assigned.

The barricade (if there is) shall not be removed until work completion and only with authorization

2.2 Signage
In addition to the tape, proper signage may be required. A clear indication shall be made visible
during the work duration.

The signage (if there is) shall not be removed until work completion and only with authorization of
the competent person.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

All workers are required to wear PPE while in the work area. A suitable and minimum PPE shall be
made available. Depending on the activity, working condition and working area, the PPE could be
and not limited to:
Hard hat
Safety boot
General Safety Guideline

This document shall only discuss the safety measure that required to be taken in a general manner
only. Any particular and specific measure shall be discussed depending on the situation and
environment.

1. Lifting Load
Inspect the materials that shall be used to lift load. Ant defective materials shall not
be used and shall be replaced
Ensure that rope or chain is secured to the designated lifting hook
Ensure that both end of the rope/chain are properly secured
Ensure that the are below the load while lifting is cleared
Ensure that no hands or foot are placed underneath the load while placing the load
on its location
Ensure that sufficient work area is available for the lifting
Ensure that the load swing radius is minimized while lifting using guide rope
attached to the load

Ensure that the lofting process is carried as smooth as possible


Ensure that all workers is wearing PPE

2. Climbing / Working Above 2.5m Height


Ensure that safety belt is used while working above 2.5m
Check the safety belt condition. The belt shall be replaced if defective
Ensure that the belt is secured to the worker and to the work area
Ensure that the area below the work area and its vicinity is cleared
If tools is used, ensure that appropriate tools pooch is used
Never throw-up or down tools or equipments
If required to bring up material to the work area, use rope to secure the material and
slowly lift it up. Ensure that the area below the lifted material cleared

3. Working With Crane


Ensure safety of access road for crane to move
Before moving the crane in, check the area clearance
Check and verify crane condition including its booms and chain.
Check for sufficient area for crane to move and swing its boom while working
If the crane is required to cross trenches, prepare enough steel / checking plates and
install them on-top the trenches
Ensure excellent communication level between the crane operator and workers
supervisor
Ensure that no one is sitting on the crane (not designated for) while the crane is
working

Carefully pull (using suitable method) and lay the cable following its route
Secure the cables (if necessary) with cable ties or other suitable method
Install cable marker / tag as specified
Make appropriate opening for the cable at panels, kiosk and switchgear for
termination purposes (control cables)
Gland the cables using appropriate cable glands size (control cables)
Slice the cable and identify cores to be used. Installed the ferrule number and cable
lug
Terminate the cable properly & as per termination schedule
Earth the glands to the equipment earth grid

2. Safety Precaution
Use appropriate PPE while working
If working with existing system, be careful with existing cables
