Report on Class Activity

The purpose of this report is to discuss the way in which the class activity was
conducted, with a focus on its contribution to the development of effective
communication and its relevance for a course on leadership.

Being the interviewer

This part of the activity focused on our ability to formulate answerable questions, as
well as the capacity to create a dialogue with our partner. For me, the most
important aspect was creating a friendly interaction, so that my partner would
cooperate as much as possible.

Being the interviewee

This was probably the hardest part, as it implies considerable self-knowledge, on the
one hand, and the ability to let go of any anxiety or fear of not being interesting
enough, on the other hand. The first two questions reminded me of how difficult the
task of talking about oneself can be. Self-awareness and the capacity for
introspection are qualities that define a good leader.

Presenting our partners profile

This part of the task involved putting all the elements together in a coherent profile
and trying to sell the result to the other members of the group. It was an effort of
summarizing information and it provided an opportunity to work on our presentation
skills.

The group activity

Talking about the profiles, choosing the most interesting profile and deciding which
question we should ask the Professor raised questions about the group dynamics.
Some people easily assumed a leading role, while others preferred to stay behind.

Conclusion

Although the activity seemed very simple at first, it was an opportunity to analyze
our behavior in different situations of communication.
