ATS Holds Graduation Ceremonies
by Dr. Phil Walker, President of ICM
The Salvation Army band struck up a marching tune and
the graduates began their march toward the crowds. The
15th graduation of ICM’s Africa Theological Seminary (ATS)
was on its way. But this was a very special year because
it marked the first graduation of ATS in Tanzania: two
graduations in two countries a week a part. Graduates
ranged in age from 24 to 72 years old. Most of them grew
up in areas where few of their family members have had
an opportunity to do college level work. Long after the
conferring of degrees, students and their families were
found celebrating all over the campus. What a memorable

The day Allison’s mother took her to the bank so her

celebration day. Allison’s parents had decided to match
her donation; her choice had already begun to make
a difference even in the lives of her family members.
Next, Laurie took Allison to deliver the check to the ICM
office, it was meaningful and inspirational to witness
how God touched Allison’s heart and moved her to give
in a tangible way. Laurie says she thinks often of the
verse, “To whom much has been given, much will be
required…” (Luke 12:48).
