Materialsand/ortechnology Posterboardaboutfractionswillbeused,thishaspizzasonitslicedindifferentincriments.Thepieceswillbe
removableandcanbeputbackonwithvelcro.Thestudentswillbeabletoremovethepiecesofpizzainordertosee
howmanypiecesremainordonotremain.Aworksheetwillbehandedoutwith20differentfractionstobecoloredin.

Introduction/Activator Reviewwhatwehavealreadylearnedaboutfractions.Discusshowtodaywewilldoanactivitytoshowfractionsin
realworldexamples.Talkabouthowwewilllearntodaywhatitmeansfortwofractionstobeequivalent,reviewwhat
equivalentmeans,andtalkabouthowwewillbeabletoseewhatitmeansfortwofractionstpbeequivalent.(5
minutes)

Reflection/Evaluation OverallIfeltthatmylessonwentverywell.Iwasnervousaboutteachingthislessonbutthestudentsunderstood
andwereverycooperative.Iwoulddothislessonagaininthefuture.InthefutureIwouldhaveitbemore
interactiveandhavethestudentsactuallycomeupandshowtheclasswhatcertainfractionslookslikeontheposter
board.Ihadnoissueswithstudentsnotunderstanding.Thestudentswhodidneedsomeextrahelpaskedforthe
helpafterthelessonwastaughtandtheyunderstoodwellenoughtobeabletocompletetheworksheeteitherby
themselvesorwithminimalassistance.
