 The First War
Introduction:
Facts about World War 1.
o 9 million soldiers and 7 million civilians died and 21 million were injured as a result of
WWI.
o WWI was the sixth deadliest conflict in world history.
o WWI transformed the U.S. into the Largest Military power in the world.
o Four empires collapsed after WWI: Ottoman, Austro-Hungarian, German, and Russian.
o How many of you think that World War 1 has affected your life directly?
Facts about World War 2.
o The number of Chinese killed by the Japanese during WWII is greater than the number
of Jews killed in the holocaust.
o 80% of all Soviet Males born in 1923 died in World War II.
o In WWII, the U.S. and New Zealand secretly tested 3,7Tsunami Bombs Designed to
destroy Coastal cities.
o 20% of Polands population died in WWII, the highest percentage of any nation.
o In total, World War II produced about 50 million deaths, more than any other war to
date.
o How many of you think that World War 2 has affected your life directly?
But there is a great war that happened even before the World war 1. It happened even before
the earth was created and has not end yet. Most interesting thing is you are a part of that war
and you have a role to play in it.
Today we will be looking at the beginning of this big great battle.

Body:
Where is the war mentioned?
o Revelation 12: 7 9: The first war in mentioned in the last book of the Bible. Who and
who fought? The first war was between Michael and his angels verses Dragon and his
angels. Where did this war take place? In heaven. Who won the war? Michael and his
angels won the battle.
o Who is this dragon?
Revelation 12: 9: The dragon is called the devil/Satan. Who is Michael?
o Who is Michael?
Jude 1: 9: Michael is the archangel. 1 Thessalonians 4: 16: With the Voice of the
archangel, the dead raise from their graves. John 5: 28: Jesus voice raises up the
dead. Therefore, Michael must represent Jesus.i
o Now, lets put the pieces together. There was war in heaven between Jesus and his
angels and the dragon and his angels. Why? How? This is going to be our study
1 John 4: 8: God is love.
Ezekiel 28: 12 17: Key points about Lucifer, his fall
o Lucifer was a created being vs. 15.
o Lucifer was in the Eden, the garden of God, Gods dwelling place vs. 13.
o Lucifer was the anointed cherub, highest order of the angel vs. 14.
o His characteristics
 Full of wisdom vs. 12.
Perfect in beauty vs. 12.
Musician vs. 13.
o Lucifers fall
Satan originated sin vs. 15 also 1 John 3: 8
His heart was lifted up because of his beauty vs. 17.
Isaiah 14: 12 14: Isaiah adds more detail to the fall of Lucifer.
o I will ascend into heaven
o I will exalt my throne above the stars of God. Stars are angels ref. Revelation 1: 20.
o I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, Gods meeting place.
o I will ascend above the heights of the clouds
o I will be like the most high.
o This was the sin of Satan. Bible didnt say God made Satan, but he made Lucifer perfect.
Lucifer chose to sin.
Now you may ask why God did not make angels as robots. As we read earlier, God is love and
love cannot be forced. God could have made angels and people so that they could not sin, like he
made the stars to remain in their orbital positions. But He made us free agents, not robots. He
gave freedom to choose whether to obey or disobey. Lucifer chose to rebel.
Did Satan fight against Jesus alone? No. Satan fought with his angels.
Now how did he gain angels to his side?
o Revelation 12: 3, 4: The tail of the great red dragon drew third part of the stars through
its tail. We saw earlier that dragon represents Satan, and the stars represents angels
(Revelation 1: 20). The Bible says that Satan drew angels to his side. But how?
o Isaiah 9: 15: Tail represents lies. Satan won angels to his side by lies.
o Now, against whom must Satan have lied? Obviously against God.
o Satan lied about God and won angels to his side.
What were his lies? Where in the bible do we find this record?
o Though its not directly told in the Bible, we find it indirectly in the story of job, who was
a righteous man. He had many possessions but he was faithful. Now Satan appears
before God and tell him he is faithful because you have blessed him. Therefore give me
permission and Ill remove his possession and well see who if he is faithful or not. Now
job lost everything.
o Job was in a dire state. He lost everything. And at this time job didnt have a knowledge
of what was happening. Job didnt know that Satan was fighting against God. He never
had any knowledge of whats going on in the universe. We have the Bible and the Spirit
of Prophesy, but did job had what we have now? He was facing a great trial. He never
know what was going on behind the veil. Now, look at what happens in job chapter 4.
o Jobs friend Eliphaz comes to him he comes to comfort him. But look at his real
intention.
 o Job 4: 13 20 Eliphaz says that he had a vision and at the end we will know who gave
him this vision. He says, that a spirit passed before me. And it said, Shall mortal man
be more just than God? Shall a man be more pure than his maker? SO far so good. It is
true that we cant be more just than God. But look at what he says next, he put no trust
in his servants and his angels he charged with folly. In other words, he says, Look God
cannot even trust his servants and he sees fault in his angels. Basically he says, God is
unjust, he doesnt trust his servants therefore he poses certain limitations. He does
whatever he wants to do. He is arbitrary. Does this sound like God or Satan? He says
how much less in them that dwell in houses of clay and whose foundation is in the dust.
o This is the lie that Satan also told in heaven. He said to the angels that the laws that
God has put, has prevented them from gaining a higher state of existence, he says that
they are free moral beings, God doesnt trust them and thats why he has his laws which
are unjust and that God is not giving them freedom. These are the lies that are revealed
to us in the bible.
o Revelation 12: 10 He is also called the accuser of our brethren. This is Jesus. He
accused Jesus in heaven.
o Moreover Bible gives us some of the characteristics of Satan
Deceives people Revelation 12: 7
Causing Affliction and disease Matthew 15: 22 Job 2 7
Persecuting and Warring against Gods people Revelation 12: 13, 17
Tempting Humanity to sin Acts 5: 3
Accusing us before God Revelation 12: 10; Zechariah 3: 1 3
This is the Satan. These are his characteristics. Satan through deception and lies won the third
part of angels to his side. Now, lets read Revelation 12: 7 9 once again with the symbols we
have revealed from the Bible.
Revelation 12: 7 9
o 7. And there was war in heaven: Michael (Jesus) and his angels fought against the
dragon (Satan); and the dragon (Satan) fought and his angels,
o 8. And prevailed not; neither was their place found any more in heaven.
o 9. And the great dragon (Satan) was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and
Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels
were cast out with him.
God is all powerful but then why didnt he destroy Satan and his angels?
o Imagine, you are teach of a class and a student asks you a question, and you know the
answer but instead you tell him to get out of the class room, is the question answered?
Nope. Instead now, the question has infected others students as well. This would have
happened if God would have destroyed Satan and his angels. By destroying Satan, that
particular problem would have been solved but it would have created many little satans
in heaven. If God would have destroyed Satan, then other angels wouldve served God
 with fear instead of willing obedience. Therefore God in his loving kindness has let this
plan to unfold before us to see the end result of what Satan has introduced.
Has this war met an end? Nope, but soon it will and you have a part to play in it too. Arent you
excited?
Today we saw the character of Satan. Now, come back tomorrow to see the character of God,
