Reflection Statement for EDU 543

SLO 2.1 Candidates will create effective learning environments and deliver meaningful learning
experience which has an emphasis on developing a deep understanding of content knowledge.
SLO 1.8 Candidates will monitor students learning and adjust instruction while teaching so that
the students to be actively engaged in learning.
SLO 2.5 Candidates will maintain high expectations for learning with appropriate support for the
full range of students in the classroom.

Disposition:

To demonstrate my understanding of TPE 2 concerning how to create an effective learning


environment and to deliver meaningful experience for Visual and Performing and Physical
Education I have developed fun and engaging lesson plans for the content area. I have created a
lesson plan for Visual and Performing Arts and Physical Educated that are catered to different
types of learning to create a meaningful learning experience for all learners. The Lesson plans
also include an unpacking of the standards to properly asses student learning and ensure that the
students meet the expectations. I will demonstrate my understanding of TPE 1 and 2 through
differentiated instruction and progress monitoring each student throughout the lessons.

The resource project that I have created demonstrates my ability to integrate the content of Visual
and Performing Arts and Physical Education in the classroom. In this project I have created
lesson plans, rubrics and other resources that will help teachers incorporate the Visual and
Performing arts standards in the curriculum. The lessons are also differentiated to the English
learner, special needs and advanced learner so that the teacher can create a meaningful learning
experience for the entire classroom.

ELD
Through my project I was able to demonstrate the visual and performing arts and PE for the
English learner. Each of my lesson plans will address the needs for the English learner. For
example in my Visual and Performing Arts Lesson, I included visuals for the English learner that
will assist the student in the project. In my Physical Education Lesson I included a model for the
English learner and had a student work with the learner to understand the technique to meet the
objective.

Link to Theory

In the instructional web resources project I have used the California Visual and Performing Arts
frame work and the Physical education frame work for guidance. The frameworks provided
helpful information that facilitated student learning. The frameworks also provided several
techniques and strategies that create a meaning full learning experience for all students. The
frameworks also include a guide to assessing students in each content area. Through the
frameworks I was able to create lessons that meet the state standards and include all learners by
creating differentiated learning objectives and modifications for instruction.

Professional Actions for Growth

My next step would be to use this knowledge of instructional web resources by applying this
information into the process of lesson planning. I will make sure to use the sites and ideas that I
have discovered in creating this web project when lesson planning in the future. I will also share
the sites and resource project with my other teaching candidates so give them ideas on how to
implement the arts and physical education. I will also continue to use the frameworks for
reference when lesson planning in the future for the content area of VAPA and PE.
