1. GENERAL DESCRIPTION
1.1 GENERAL

The diesel power plant of 46.2MW class electrical output with 22(Eight) diesel generating set(s)
will be supplied to the purchaser.
The diesel engine generators are capable of operating parallel with each other and/or Grid.
The diesel Generating set(s) shall be designed to produce electric power by HIMSEN ENGINE
Type 9H25/33 manufactured by Hyundai Heavy Industries, Co., Ltd.

1.2 DESIGN CONDITION AND PERFORMANCE DATA

DESIGN AMBIENT CONDITION

The equipment will be designed and constructed for operation at the following condition :

- Ambient Air temperature : 25 C


- Total barometric pressure : 1001.3 mbar
- Cooling water temperature : 33 C
- Cooling system : Cooling tower
- Relative humidity : Max. 60 %

PERFORMANCE DATA AT DESIGN AMBIENT CONDITION

- Gross Output at Generator Terminal : 2100 kW/Unit


- Fuel consumption at Generator Terminal : 194.8 g/kWh (Tolerance 5%)
(Based on LCV= 42700 kJ/kg, Load 100%, 50 Hz, PF 0.8 )
- The performance data value is valid only for equal or above 0.8 P.F. during the test.

1.3 FUEL OIL FOR DIESEL ENGINE

(1) Heavy Fuel Oil viscosity of 180cSt at 50


For a main fuel of the power plant, and this technical specification is based on 180cSt at 50
The heavy fuel oil shall have the viscosity characteristics that the viscosity shall be within the
range of 12~18 cSt with the heating lower than 150 .

(2) Light diesel oil


For a start-up, stop and maintenance.
The viscosity of Diesel oil shall be of 2~14 cSt at Engine inlet under the power plant operating
conditions.

1.4 LUBRICATING OIL FOR DIESEL ENGINE

The Lubricating oil for Himsen engine shall be selected from the list of recommended lubricating
oil for engine, which shall be of HD(Heavy duty) API-CD class and SAE 40.

1.5 COOLING WATER FOR DIESEL ENGINE

The cooling water system is designed for using normal fresh water with corrosion inhibitor,
in order to prevent incrustation and corrosion attack.

The following water quality shall be valid :


For Engine (circulation water)

- pH : 7~9
- Total hardness as CaCO3 : Max. 75 ppm(mg/liter)
- Chlorides as CI : Max. 80 ppm(mg/liter)
- 2- Max. 100 ppm(mg/liter)
Sulphates as SO4 :
- Silica as SiO2 : Max. 60 ppm(mg/liter)
- Residue after evaporation : Max. 400 ppm(mg/liter)

1.6 STANDARDS

Unless there are specified standards or codes, all design, manufacturing, quality
control and tests shall be in accordance with the applicable portions of below listed
prominent international and national Standards and Manufacturer's Standards :
- KS Korean Standards
- JIS Japanese Industrial Standards
- IEC International Electro technical Commission
- ISO International Organization for Standardization
- ANSI American National Standards Institute
- ASME American Society of Mechanical Engineers

1.7 UNIT AND LANGUAGE

(1) Units
In all correspondences of technical documents, schedules and drawings, metric units
of all measurements shall be used.

(2) Language
The English language shall be used in all documents, drawings, name plates and
correspondences between contractor and purchaser.

1.8 TEST AND INSPECTION

(1) Shop test

Diesel engine shall be tested at the shop in accordance with ISO 3046 and manufacturers
standard.

Load test
Diesel engine will be coupled with a generator and will be tested using marine diesel oil
under the following loads and duration of test program.

Load Duration
50% 30 min.
75% 30 min.

100% 60 min.

Other test shall be performed additionally as follows :

- Over speed trip test


- Engine safety device test (as per HHI standard)

(2) Site test

Purchaser shall perform commissioning and start-up with Contractor's technical assistance.
Followings shall be checked before or during commissioning;

- Installation check
- Engine & generator coupling and alignment check
- Test to prove correct operation of interlocks, alarm and tripping circuits
- Safety device check

Site performance test


After successful start-up, performance test shall be done by purchaser under the
technical assistance and guidance of contractor's supervisor(s) as follows as far as site
conditions allow:

Load Duration
50% 30 min.
75% 30 min.
100% 60 min.

The performance test procedure will be submitted to the purchaser.

1.9 PAINTING
All equipment will be painted in accordance with manufacturer's standard and painting color will be
informed to the purchaser.

3.3 FUEL OIL SYSTEM (Recommended specification)

The engine fuel oil system is designed for a reliable combustion of Heavy Fuel Oil as well as
Diesel Fuel Oil.

3.4 LUBRICATING OIL SYSTEM (Recommended specification)

The engine has its own internal lubricating oil system with wet type oil sump, which supplies
lubricating oil to all moving parts for lubricating as well as cooling.

- Lube oil filter : Duplex paper cartridge type(15Micron, 50Micron)

3.5 COOLING WATER SYSTEM (Recommended specification)

The engine cooling water system consists of two cooling water circuits, which are Low
temperature(LT) and High temperature(HT) water circuits. The heat transfer to engine
cooling water is discharged to atmosphere by Cooling tower.

Low temperature water circuit comprises :


- LTCW pump : Engine driven, mounted on engine
- Charge air cooler : Mounted on engine

High temperature water circuit comprises :


- HTCW pump : Engine driven, mounted on engine
- Engine water jackets/cylinder head : Mounted on engine

3.6 COMPRESSED AIR SYSTEM (Recommended specification)

The compressed air supply system consists of starting air receiver and air compressor as follows.
The compressed air supply system also provides the control air to the related auxiliaries through
pressure-reducing valve.

3.7 INTAKE AIR SYSTEM (Recommended specification)

- Permissible dust content of combustion air entering engine shall be 0.5 mg/m3,
thereof 90 percent of the dust content shall be 5 and the remaining content shall be < 15.

3.8 EXHAUST GAS SYSTEM (Recommended specification)

Exhaust gas of the engine flows out from turbocharger to atmosphere via expansion joint and
silencer.

3.9 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM (Recommended specification)

3.9.1 GENERAL

This technical specification will govern the overall technical requirement of electrical equipment

In case that the generator incoming CB cubicle including related switchgear will be provided by costomer,
the generator incoming circuit breaker having the following protection device for generator protection
and safety operation shall be considered.

1) Surge arrester to protect generator (especially generator PT mounted on generator)


2) UVR (under voltage release)
3) UVT (under voltage trip) operating mechanism :
Energizing this unit causes instant opening of the circuit breaker
4) CTD (Condenser Trip Device), If applied voltage in swgr is AC, the CTD device will be required.

3.9.3 7.2kV SWITCHGEARS (Recommended specification)

General description

1) 7.2kV switchgear shall be indoor, metal-enclosed, floor mounted, draw out type.
Meters, relays, switches and lamps will be flush mounted on the respective
cubicle door or on control cabinet. The degree of protection enclosure will be of IP 40.

2) The breakers shall be triple pole, single throw and vacuum circuit breaker

3) All the external cables will enter the switchgear through adequate openings at the bottom.

4) Current transformers(CT) will be epoxy-resin type. All current transformer secondary will be
connected to short circuiting terminal blocks.

5) Potential transformers(PT) will be epoxy-resin type with primary and secondary fuses.

6) The accuracy class for CT & PT will be of 1.0 cl. for metering 5P20 for protection.

7) The vacuum circuit breaker operating and control circuit will be for 110V DC supplied from
110V DC station which is normally floated with battery and battery charger.

8) The switchgear cubicle will be provided with space heaters to prevent condensation of moisture

within the switchgear.

9) For generator feeders, the necessary electrical parameters are to be measured or displayed in
each generator control panel.

General description

1) L.V switchgear will be metal-enclosed, free-standing, dead front structure with electrically operated
draw out type air circuit breaker suitable for indoor installation.

2) The air circuit breaker will be 3-pole, 600V class air circuit breaker (ACB) with suitable rating of
continuous current rating and interrupting rating respectively.

3) Motor Control Center and Distribution Boards shall be of single front, fixed type.

3.9.8 CONDUITS AND TRAYS (Recommended specification)

1) Cables will be installed in above ground conduits, cable trays, underground conduits or cable
trenches or direct buried.
2) Conduits will be rigid steel conduits.
3) Separate trays for instrumentation cables will be provided to separate them from power cable.
4) Trays for cables for different voltage levels will be stacked in descending order with the higher
voltage above. Instrumentation trays will always be at the bottom.
5) Trays will be made of hot-dip galvanized steel for outdoor and indoor.

3.10 ENGINE GENERATOR CONTROL PANEL

Engine/ Generator control panel will be metal-enclosed, free-standing, IP40, indoor installation.
