Title Glass-Ceiling Syndrome: Women Advancement Barriers
Abstract
Objectives - The utmost challenge for any nation Is to remove the gender biasedness in this corporate
world. The under-representation of women in managerial positions is a serious issue, not only for
women but for the business world too. Hence, the study examined the perception of glass-celling about
women advancement to the managerial position in organizations and the approaches organizations
consider to promote and encourage talented women to support their advancement.
Method - The study was conducted in an exploratory framework and the Data were collected from 300
women executives across sectors such as manufacturing, service, tourism, construction, and transport
sector from Rajasthan, India. The Data were subjected to factor analysis to establish the construct
validity anc further analysis such as correlation, multiple regression, and analysis of variance (ANOVA)
was done through SPSS v24.0.
Results - The results showed that there is a significant effect of the Glass-Celling on women career
advancement af female employees working in private and public sector organizations. Also, the
‘gender biasedness is not helping them to display full commitment towards work, in knowledge
enhancement, and utlize their potential with full enthusiasm.
Conclusion - Therefore, cultivating awareness about the workforce diversity and equal employing
‘opportunities in the society and in the organization's workforce can be thought-out for an effective
Strategy to reduce the glass celling effect that women face in the organizations. Finally, itis
recommended that more research is needed on barriers women face across sectors, On the other
hand, society, government and private organizations should take collective efforts to diminish the
practice of gender diversity for the betterment of society, organizations, and women,
