WhilelivinginSt.George,Ireceivedmybachelorsofnursingdegreeandhaveworkedinlongtermcare,
correctionsinSt.GeorgeandmostrecentlyincorrectionsattheSaltLakeCountySheriff'sOffice.Ihave
discoveredafascinationwithworkingwithinmates,whichoftenpeoplefindtobebothinterestingand
intimidating.AtfirstIwasnervousaboutwhatitmightbeliketoworkwiththecorrectionalsideofsociety,
butIhavefoundthistoanexcitingandinterestingcareerexperience.Ithashelpedmetobettermynursing
skillsbylearningmoreaboutmedicalconditionsanddiseaseprocessessothatIcanbetterassesstheinmates.
ThisthenhelpsmetobetterdistinguishwhenImaybebeingmisledorwhenthereisarealsituationthatneeds
myattention.IfeelthiscouldbeappliedtothosepatientsIwouldbehelpingtogetreadytodischargehome.I
wouldbeabletoassesstheirneedsandhelpthembesetupwiththoseresourcestheywouldneedtobe
successfulaftertheirstay.Ialsofindthatthereareplentyofgreatopportunitiestoteachthesepeopleabout
howtobettercareforthemselves,whichIfindrewarding.Iknowthiswouldalsobethecasewiththose
patientsIwouldhelpinyourfacility.
SinceworkingattheSaltLakeCountySheriff'sOffice,Ihaveobtainedmybasiclifesupport(BLS)
instructorslicense,whichhasallowedmetohelpwithrecertifyingdeputiesandotherstaffasneeded.Ifeel
thisskillwouldalsobeagreatbenefittoyourfacility.Tohavesomeonecompetentinthisimportantskill,and
beabletorecertifystaffastheneedarose.
Asindicatedonmyresume,Ihavecontinuallypursuedjobopportunitiesthathaveallowedmetopracticeand
furthermyknowledgeofthehealthcarefield.Throughmycollegecareer,Ihaveenthusiasticallytaken
