At least one entrance serving an


adaptable dwelling unit, including
walkways leading to the entrance
from a public thoroughfare and from
onsite parking areas shall be barrier
1 free

A barrier free path of travel shall be


provided between the interior living
space of the dwelling uint and any
ancillary space serving it, including
2 the garage, balcony or deck

Entryway kitchens, washrooms,


laundry rooms and other areas of a
dwelling unit shall be designed with
an unobstructed turning diameterof
3 not less than 1500mm

Windows shall be
a) be equipped with opening devices
located not more than 60mm above
the window sill and of a design that
does not require tight grasping,
pinching or twisting of the wrist as
the only means of operation
b} be located so that the sill is not
more than 865mm above the floor
4 level

Controls for the operation of the


building services or safety devices
including electrical switches,
electrical panels, thermostats and
inetrcom switches, shall be mounted
400mm and 1200mm above the
5 finished floor level
Electrical receptacles shall be
mounted between 400mm and
6 1200mm from finished floor level

Every doorway into rooms within


the dwelling unit shall have a clear
width of not less than 850mm when
7 the door is in open position

A doorway referred in 7 or in barrier


free path of travel referred to in 1 &
8 2 shall conform to 3.8.33

Structural support shall be provided


in at least one bedroom and one
washroom to accommodate a ceiling
9 track lift

Door and window frames and


baseboards shall be contrasting in
10 colour to doors, walls and floors
