Pride and Prejudice is a great love story that
keeps you constantly wanting more of the book. It
starts off with Elizabeth with her four sisters and
their father. Their father wants them to marry
because his land must be passed down to a
male.Jane, Mary, and Lydia are very childish and it
does not really matter a whole lot to them to be
married. Elizabeth is very intelligent and takes
becoming a wife serious and wants a good
relationship with her soon to be husband. Their
cousin comes to visit the family because if the girls
do not marry, the land will be inherited by him.
Them marrying is being relied on. Mr. Bingley
becomes a neighbor of the Bennets for the summer
and brings his richer sister and his friend mr. Darcy.
Mr. Bingley goes to the same ball as the Bennet
sisters. Bingley sees jane and they dance. Jane is
happy to dance with him and for him to ask her
twice. Jane goes home happy and tells elizabeth of
her experience at the ball. Elizabeth tells Jane that
she is beautiful and how great she is. The Bennet
sisters and the Bingley sister become very good
friends. Jane confesses her honest love about Mr.
Bennett and hopes for him to someday be her
future husband to her Elizabeth but conceals it
when shes around him. Darcy becomes very found
of Elizabeth and grows a liking to her. Mr. Bennet's
property must be inherited by a man when he dies,
not his daughters. The Bingley sister, Jane and
Elizabeth have a sleep over. Although jane and
Bingleys sister are friends she did not want Mr.
Bingley to marry Jane. Elizabeth resists Darcy
many times. She soon grows a liking to him and
they get married. Jane and Bingley also marry,
Bingley decides he does not care what his sister
thinks and goes off to marry Jane.
About the Author
Jane Austen is an english novelist of many
different books. Born in Steven, New Hampshire on
December 16, 1775. Jane was born a month later

than her parents were expected. Jane got very
close to her father and to her oldest sister,
Prejudice
Cassandra. Jane and her sister, Cassandra, were
sent a boarding school for formal education. They
both returned home after a short time for financial
reasons. Jane spent a lot of her early adulthood
helping the family, going to church, and playing
piano. In the evenings she would read books to her
family. Austen also started to write here and there;
she read those books to her family as well. Jane, Jane Austen
her mother, father, and Cassandra moved to Bath.
Four years later her father died in1805. The
remaining three moved from place to place until
18009 when they were able to be in a stable Alecia Beltran
household. Now that jane was in her 30s she
started to anonymously publish her work. Jane, in 2/27/17
1816 at the age of 41, was beginning to get ill but
that did not stop her from maintaining her normal
life. After her death, she was significantly known for
her great books. While she was still alive she was
starting to get a bit of recognition from the people

 The time period was the late 1700s and early
1800s. During this time Romance was accepted.
During this time, the french revolution was being
fought. Also, Marie Antoinette was guillotined and
Napoleon rose to power and conquered most of
Western Europe.

Character Analysis Themes Motifs and Symbols

Elizabeth Bennet - The protagonist, second
daughter, and most intelligent daughter. A well read
and witted girl. She soon realizes the good things
about Darcy over her prejudice for him. A lovely,
clever, smart girl with good intentions in her life. She
is lively, honest, and rises above all. All above, she
is a well-rounded beautiful person.
Fitzwilliam Darcy - A wealthy gentleman. His pride
causes him to look down on lower social classes.
Over time he learns to love and admire Elizabeth.
Elizabeths rejection for marriage causes him to
rethink his own character. Darcy does not give up,
his devotion is Elizabeth.
Jane Bennet - Eldest, prettiest Bennett sister. Very
reserved and gentle, much more than Elizabeth. A
very pleasant person to be around. Very nice and a
peaceful person to be around. She is most elegant
when conversing with Bingley.
Charles Bingley - Darcys wealthy best friend.
Purchases a house in the neighborhood of the
Bennets. Does not care about social classes. He is
easy going and a very nice guy. He is friendly and
cheerful guy. A kind guy with good intentions.
Love - The relationships throughout
the book all involved love and how they love
each other.
Marriage - Through the entire novel
the girls are trying to marry and fulfill their girls are striving for a husband. Each romance has
father's wishes.
Wealth - Money is constantly
mentioned when social classes are being
talked about in the book.
Social class - Social classes are the
main focus on why Darcy and Elizabeth, at
first, do not accept each other in some ways. to Derby and Pemberley, where she falls in love
Pride - What everyone is so
concerned about and what each character
has for themselves
Prejudice - Because Elizabeth is
middle class and Darcy is higher and
wealthy and the same with Bingley and Jane
Romance and Journey are both motifs in Pride and
Prejudice. Romance is a motif because the novel is
based off Darcy and Elizabeths relationship and
Bingley and Janes relationship. Marriage being the
ultimate goal is also a romance because each of the
different sorts of love that makes it a beautiful,
interesting book. Journey is also a motif because
close to every scene in the book, it is indoors and
mostly takes place around the Bennet home. When
Elizabeth goes to visit her friend, she encounters
with Darcy, this a big journey because they
eventually fall in love and her trip changes her
entire life. Another journey is when Elizabeth goes
with Darcy. A symbol in the novel is Pemberly,
because it is the center of the book, it is based off
the owner which is Darcy.

Mr. Bennett - A gentleman modest income, and the

father to 5 unmarried daughters. He often fails as a
parent. He loves his kids but their behaviors he fails
to control or help.

Ms. Bennett - Noisy, loud women who only wishes

for her daughters to marry. Because of her awful
behavior she repels guys from her daughters.
