Lifelong learning is a learning style which continues throughout life and

anywhere like school, work or home (Bosson, 2017). According to Bossons

lecture (2017) lifelong learning is associated with a journey. As stated by

Fischer it provides understanding challenges, exploring and supporting

different sides of learning (2000, p.3) Lifelong learning also has three

styles (Bang, 2010; McNair,2012) and they connect with a lot of

importance in modern world. Field states that these advantages might be

for the individual, the economy and society (2009, p.5). As stated in some

studies, being engaged in learning leads to life satisfaction (Feinstein et al,

2008), optimism and subjective well-being (Hyde & Phillipson, 2015, p.5).

Firstly, in modern world, there will be a lot of information. So, it is

impossible to learn this information at once. Therefore, people should learn

this information throughout their lives to prevent information overload

(Fischer, 2000, p.3). Secondly, as mentioned by Hyde and Phillipinson

(2015, p.5) , lifelong learning can help traditions to be passed from elder

generations to the young ones as well as taking modern worlds features

into account (Hyde, & Phillipson, 2015, p.5) . Thirdly, as stated in the

Leitchs (2006, p.6) findings, lifelong learning also has economic

advantages. Increasing of the adults who have high level skills by 2.4-2.7

million by 2020 could create advantages to the UK economy of 50-70

billion. Lastly, in accordance with Fischer (2000), in modern world, life does

not always go as one plans (p.3). Change in plans concerning an

individuals career can occur at any time. For this reason, we should be

prepared for it. The best way to be prepared is lifelong learning as it is

continuous and productive.
