1st Week - journal entry 1

*Science Classroom Environment

In term of the first week in my teaching practice in Well Spring School, I tried to investigate
the classroom environment for science classes. I look at the Science corners and how it is arranged
and the textbook of science for teacher and students. In this week, I look forward taking a
background of science classroom and how the teacher teaches science and how the environment of
this specified subject should be.

The purpose of observing the science classroom is to recognize how I will teach in science
environment and what is the most useful that my MST used it for science classes. I found that the
science lessons mostly is connected lessons which is scaffolds students and go with them step by
step. Science is heavy subject which the teacher cannot achieve more than two objectives in one
day. Or for example, the scientific process because of that I notice the importance of each stage like
when students hypothesizing they take at least 5 minutes to guess and share their thoughts.

Regards the scientific materials, my MST used all needed materials for science topic for the
lesson. There is enough provision materials that all students needs to work on during the class time.
I liked that the environment is completely prepared well for the students to learn science.

Besides, I used this week for observing science environment and school classes which means
discover the school and look at school conditions. Also, I asked my MST what are the topics that
students will take in this semester and at the end of the semester students will achieve how many
goals. She informed me with a lot of students performance and planning for their work during the
class and how they are progressed.

Overall, this week was full of having fun with students and discovers their personalities and
how they work in the classroom in groups, individuals. According to my Teaching Practice Tasks
booklet, I also decided to achieve two goals in this week which is the first one looking and recording
the environment of science environment. The second goal which looks like the same of the first one
is completing Task 6 and structure of typical primary school science lessons.
