Project Title Analysis of a Pedal Driven Multi-tool Carpenter Bench
This machine was designed as a low cost
solution which could facilitate induction of rural unemployed to easily get into the mainstream economy of the village. The machine allows cutting, drilling, lathe and grinding operations using mechanical input obtained from pedaling. Just like a bicycle, the operator can sit comfortably and carry out the carpentry operations. The motion transfer in the machine occurs as follows. The operator runs the pedals by applying force through his feet while sitting on seat supported over a base. This rotates the lower shaft (supported with bearings) below the worktable via a chain- sprocket assembly. The rotary motion is further transferred to a shaft above the table (supported with bearings) via The machine was built as a prototype and another chain-sprocket arrangement. lacks rigorous strength and performance Tools with detachable connecting ends are analysis which we aim to achieve by the mounted on the upper shaft and the work end of the project.
