Recruitment Assignment
1) To give you a better sense of your role and tasks as a potential faculty member in
ALUs Learning Team, specifically in the design and delivery of our Electrical Engineering
programme, and
2) To give us a better sense of your skillset and fit for this team.
Your recruiting assignment has three parts. We estimate this will take around 20 hours of
work, so you have 10 working days to submit your deliverables. Once we have received your
deliverables, we will follow up to schedule the 30 minute Session/Interview with our Learning
Team. Please let us know if you do not think you will be able to meet this deadline.
Supporting materials:
ALU Core Skills Map - an overview of the focal points of our Foundation Core (the
first year courses taken by all ALU students). These skills are aligned to answering the

Respond to the prompt below in 1-2 pages.
In an ideal world with no constraints, how should a student learn to become an engineer, and how
could that translate into a programme of study for 30 students? 300 students? 3000 students?
Domain Map:
What are the major domains within electrical engineering that a student needs to have
mastered by the end of their undergraduate education? Create a map of those domains that
shows associations, hierarchical structures, or any other relationship between the domains (As a
point of reference, see the Foundation Core Skills Map that .
Detailed skills within 2 domains
: Choose 2 domains and detail the core skills that
would contribute to mastery of that domain.
As your interview you will facilitate this session for members of the ALU Learning Team (~ 4).

The expected turnaround time for this lesson planning submission is 10 working days. We will
follow up to schedule a time slot for your session presentation once we have received your
session plan.
