Standard 1: Learning Purpose and Connections


What will the students be learning?
What are the big concepts for the lesson?

Students will count by 1s and 10s to 100.


Introduction of lesson will be presented on smartboard. Students will see the number chart 1-100
Teacher will remind students of the work we have done with numbers and with pictures such as money charts remind
students why it is important to learn numbers.
Students will be reminded that we have worked with counting and numbers at each class. Smart board, projector,
computer with programs. will be used to facilitate class.
Students will receive positive feedback with cheers and encouragement as we count together go get from one to one
hundred.
We will build on current knowledge by working together to recognize numbers through repetitions count together to one
hundred.
When students are settled and ready, teacher will play Voki to introduce the lesson to be taught and what the expectations
are for the lesson. Voki will instruct students we will be counting and working with numbers one to one hundred counting by
ones and then by 10s. Students will be told to be prepared to answer questions, play a counting game, work in small
groups to fill in missing numbers and individually with a worksheet tracing numbers.

After introduction, students will stand and using a YouTube video on the smartboard sing a counting song together.
After song plays Students will watch the presentations prepared using PowerPoint with numbers with shapes and colors to
count together from one to one hundred.
Students will sit in groups at tables to work together. Together we will review previous days assignments. Students will
assist each other in understanding number operation.
Teacher will circulate between students to check for understanding, teacher will assess if remedial teaching is needed or if
one-on-one teaching is required for any student.
Goals will be accomplished through repetition.
Teacher will have available tablet devices for any ELL students that count in the childs native language side-by-side with
English to enhance learning and understanding.

Students will develop skills through repetition.


Visual stimulation via pictures on the smart board will enhance evidence in numbers.
Students will be introduced to number chards, money charts, weight and height charts to show the importance in numbers.
Handout worksheet one will be done together as a whole class and will follow the instructor on the smartboard. Instructor
will also give examples of real world applications that young students will understand to help them comprehend the
information.
Students can connect new concepts and skills by talking about age. When in kindergarten, 4,5,6 are important numbers.
Teacher will use this information to show students the importance of being able to count.
Student collaboration will take place with a group project in filling in the blank or missing numbers on a work sheet.
Students will play a game on tablets going to http://www.abcya.com/number_bubble_skip_counting.htm to play a skip
counting game.

Students will reflect on learning goals by working with worksheets on counting and numbers. Each day we will focus on a
number 1-10 on the worksheets and continuing by 10s to 100. Students will use worksheets to count, trace numbers in
number and work form.
Teacher will display worksheets in the class room to reward progress. Teacher will choose 3 top papers a day. One for best
work, one most improved, and the last will be for best effort. Allowing each students an opportunity to reach the top.
While games and group activities are in progress, teacher will seek students that need more personalized assistance.
Students that need the additional assistance will work with the teacher to improve counting and number recognition.
Additional worksheets will be available for take home practice if needed.
Worksheet will be done individually. Teacher will assess comprehension of the material by the individual work.

Standard 5: Assessment Integrated into Instruction

Students review of previous day and weeks numbers have confirmed comprehension, and areas of further need of review.
Teacher will play a game on Quizlet to check student comprehension. Students will compete to answer question presented
on the smartboard by buzzing in their answers to question provided. Questions will consist of what numbers are missing
when counting to 100 by tens.
Feedback will be given throughout the lesson and with a point system on the turned in worksheets.
Homework will be given in the form of worksheets and internet games to play to encourage counting and number
recognition.
Lesson will close by class working together to do a final count from one to one hundred. Students will be informed that
counting will continue throughout the school year and the rest of our lives.
