Agriculture in Indonesia

History of Indonesia cannot be separated about agriculture aspect that was showed our
ancestor was farmer although indonesia is maritim national. This aspect was big part for
our nation that was make economic stable national since this country obtained
indepedent in august 17, 1945. Center of Statistic Department (BPS) Indonesia has
announced in 2002 that agriculture sector has provide 44.3% from Indonesian people to
work, it is almost half of our indonesian.
Indonesia has 5 big commodities to export to many countries that is need for main
ingredient to cook that consist palm oil, cloves, cinnamon, natural rubber, and vanilla. As
we knowed the dutchman had settled in this country during 3.5 century for one thing to
rob spices because this was expensive when it was sold in europe and it just founded in
indonesia so that our agriculture was fame. Talking about our biggest comodity is palm
oil that is exporting to overseas about 31 millions ton.
In 2013, the agricultural sector contributed to 14,43 percent of national GDP and around
30 percent of indonesian land area is used for agriculture. Currently indonesia is the
worlds largest producer of palm oil, cloves and cinnamon, the second largest producer
nutmeg, natural rubber, cassava, vanilla and coconut oil, the third largest producer of
rice and cocoa, the forth largest producer of coffee, the fifth largest tobacco producer,
and the sixth largest tea producer.
