Lesson Plan 2 (Phase 4 Independent Practice)
Purpose: In this project you will compare and contrast the structure of a typical plant cell with
that of a typical animal cell.
Format: You will present the structural differences in a visual form. Your project must be
submitted as a poster or 3D model that includes illustrations or other modeling of both plant and
animal cells.
Requirements: Your project must contain the following elements to receive full credit:
~ Posters must be submitted on-poster paper. Regular printer paper is not acceptable
- 3D models may not be just glued onto regular printer paper. Check with me to make
sure your project is acceptable if you are unsure
- Your name must be clearly visible on the front of your project
- Your project must contain one diagram of a typical animal cell and one diagram of a
typical plant cell
- Both cells must be clearly labeled
~ Your project must include the following structures:
Cell membrane - Chloroplasts
~ Cell wall (plant only) - Lysosomes
- Nucleus - Nucleolus
Cytoplasm - Ribosomes
- Golgi Body (golgi apparatus)
- Endoplasmic Reticulum
- Mitochondria - Vacuoles
- Each structure must:
Be clearly represented, either drawn on the poster or represented visually in
the 3D model
- Be clearly labeled in neat writing or with a typed label
- Include a brief description of its function, also clearly written or typed
+ Descriptions should be in your own words, not copied from book or
interet
- Must be in color, creative, and neat!!!
Grading: You will be graded on the following. See attached rubric for more instructions
Overall look (presentation) of your project,
- Neatness counts!
- Creativity & color
Spelling and clear writing
- Accuracy of diagrams and descriptions
- Completion
~ Use of work time
