Analysis of the field Study

1. Labour Union was present in only one company. In most of the


companies, the management took care of the IR issues. The
labourers could directly discuss with management in case of any
issues.
2. 50% of the firms of field study had employed contract labour. All the
three firms employing contract labour paid them minimum wage
fixed by the government. There was considerable difference
between the salary of permanent and contract labourers.
3. Benefits like PF and ESI are paid to all labourers (both contract and
permanent).
4. There were no women labourers in all the firms.
5. Most of the contract workers take long leaves with informing their
employer and this is one of the main reasons for their firing.
