Information Visitor Visa

Visa application forms are available free of charge at the premises of the Embassy of
Switzerland. Preferably the visa form for a short-term visa (type A and type C for a
sojourn in the Schengen area not exceeding 3 months), is completed online, by using
the following link: www.swiss-visa.ch
To request for a visitor visa to Switzerland the applicant, whose biometric data have
not yet been registered at a Schengen Representation within the previous 59 months,
has to apply in person.
Applicants whose biometric data have been registered within the previous 59 months
are exempted from submitting their application in person, in case their biometric data
have been registered in a satisfying quality and a photocopy of the biometric visa
issued previously is attached to the visa application. Their application and the visa fee
may be submitted by a third person. Applicants are informed that the Embassy might
invite an applicant, who has not submitted the visa application personally, for an
interview at the Embassy, if considered necessary, without indication of any reason for
it.
Applications, whether submitted in person, or submitted by a third person, need to be
accompanied by the following documents and information:

General
Completed visa application form, personally signed by the applicant
2 recent passport-size photographs (unstapled and less than 6 months old)
Current passport (MRP passport, valid for at least 3 months beyond the planned
departure from the Schengen area) and all previous passports in original
Photocopy of current passport up to page 7

Additional required documents/information

Letter of invitation from the host in Switzerland, which also needs to be sent by the
host directly to this Embassy (e.g. email or fax). The invitation letter must contain
at minimum the following information and attachments:
- Relation between the host and guest
- Reason for stay
- Exact duration of the visit
- Who will bear the cost of living, transportation, food and health insurance
(if the host is responsible for the coverage of costs, an additional declaration of
guarantee may be requested by this Embassy at the visa appointment)
- Address, phone number, and signature of host
- Supporting documents/attachments from host: scan or photocopy of passport
and resident permit
Letter of current employment of applicant (if available)
Bank statement both personal and company of applicant (each 6 months)
Health & Travel Insurance for Schengen area
Flight itinerary or airline ticket
