The five men of the US Rifle Platoon Command are responsible for the leadership and com- munications of the Rifle Platoon. A Late War US Rifle Platoon may at times have other teams or units attached to it on the battlefield (like .30 Cal MMG Teams for example). There are five men in the US Rifle Platoon Com- mand: Platoon Leader, a Platoon Sergeant, a Radio Operator, and two Runners. Every individual man plays a key role in the leadership and communication mission of the team for its Rifle Platoon. The Platoon Leader is the senior leader of the US Rifle Platoon. Typically a junior officer (2nd Lieutenant), the Platoon Leader is the one guy in the Rifle Platoon whom is in charge. Higher Morale The mission of the Runners depends upon individuals who can be relied upon to deliver important mes- sages across the battlefield. All Runners Morale is one point higher than normal per Troop Quality type. Example: Veteran Runners have a Morale (ML) of 12. Moving Runners are the fastest men in the Rifle Pla- toon; their speed not only can save their own lives, but that of Platoon Platoon the entire Rifle platoon as well! Radio Operator The Radio Operator maintains radio communications with other units such as US Recon Scouts and Teams. Self-Rally US Rifle Platoon Command team mem- bers often operated independently and often roved the battle- field in order to stay in communication with the squads of the platoon.
