Aards Brief Life Story

Born: He was born with only three sisters, which is small for a litter of orcks,
normally around 8-9. Litters are this size since half of them normally kill the other
half by the time theyre about three. However Aard had only 3 sister so while he
was much weaker than an average orck they were of comparible strength and
they all survived to their 10th birthday. . In this time Aard became proficient
with many ranged weapons, his favourite being the bow, since with hand to hand
combat he was always outmatched by , well by everyone. That being said hes
an orc so by most standards chopping comes fairly naturally. Since Aards
mother, Aarc, was a chief Aard was given lessons in both humish (although he
still is not very good) and ancient orc as his mother wanted him to continue the
work she had started negotiating with both other orc chiefs (orck equivalent of a
human clan and plural of chief the leader of a chiefs) forming an alligance that
had lasted for like 3ish years (when aard was 10), (which is really good by orc
standards), as well negotiating with other races allowing orcks access to better
weaponry forged by both human and on very rare occasion elves and dwarves
which allowed them to kill each other and other people better. Orcks have a
much faster rate of growth than almost every other species so by the time aard
was 10 it was obvious he was always going to be week and week orcs always
have a tendancy to be killed for some reason or another. For this reason Aards
mother sent him away with a merchant, with whom she had build good trading
relations with, who was visiting a small island just off the coast.
The journey from the homeland to aurvin: On his way to aurvin aard was fairly
scared and confused. Since while he was his adult size he was still only a ten
year old orc, (5 year old human mental age). He was given all the rubbish jobs on
ship and had no friends, the journey took about 5 months 2 months longer
than it should of done due to stormy weather. As a result aard doesnt like boats.
Infact he will go out of his way to sink them if he can.
Arriving in aurvin: The rest of the sailors (from the south) didnt like the ice
wasteland of the north so they only stayed for a night before leaving. Aard on the
other hand just wanted to get away from the sailors so decided to stay. He
managed to get lodgings and food by working on the ranch. (There was pretty
only much two options for him(as he had to craft skills) and the other was a
fishing boat so). He spent about 8 years working on the ranch looking after and
then hunting moose like creatures that lived off a strange plankton in the snow.
He was ACCEPTED here since the people had never met orcks before and aard is
very calm, controlled and sociable for an orck and the people of aurvin except
anyone as long as they can pull their weight and not cause trouble since the
northern ice sheets are an inhospitable barren wasteland unsurvible on your
own. The main threat to the moosines (they had 6 legs) were wolves. Which
hunted in packs and could decimate a heard overnight. Aard gained a reputation
for being able to kill wolves over the years since his bow and arrow was better
for this purpose than the spear the people of aurvin used.
Auro: One day aard found a wolf trail going back to a den. The only issue being
the only way to this den was a very narrow, (even for a wolf never mind an Orck)
ledge half way across a verticle cliffface. Undertered aard edged across the
cliffface to find a litter of about 8 pups. He reached for his knife and only just saw
their mother launch herself at him out of the corner of his eye. He twisted
balancing on the edge of the cliff grabbing her mane as she flew at him. After a
brief struggle aard managed to push auro off the edge of the cliff but as she
scrambled to save herself he couldnt bring himself to push her off as she
pleaded with her glistening ice blue eyes. He pulled her up and gave her
some food for the pups before leaving. After about 10 weeks, the pups were
about old enough to fend for their own so being a good mum auro left them to
learn lifes lessons and went in search of aard. (She only had to look in one place
since there was only one village on the entire northern ice sheet. When people
saw aard and auro together they shunned aard and nearly killed auro
(surrounding her with spears which she now has a phobia of) since the wolves
were the bittermost enemies of the people of the north.
At this point aard could have taken a boat round towards Manchester but he
didnt like boats so he decided to walk instead. It took a while, it was quite cold,
but he was with auro so he didnt mind as much. Ill skip this bit since it isnt very
interesting.
When he reached warmer climates he started trusting auro more and more to do
simple and then more complex tasks. Initally it was just guarding camp, scouting
ahead and hunting for small game but then she learned tricks which helped him
persuade farmers to let him stay on theyre land for a few nights. She always
managed to understand what he wanted. One time 7 dwarves tried to mug aard
but auro stealthily snuck up behind them and went full on intimation in there
faces(well above theyre faces but point stands) saving him from a potential
beating. Auro is now very adept to understanding what aard wants but once in a
while she will get distracted. Auro will also retrieve game that aard shoots with
his bow.
Aard usually prefers to remain as a tall hooded figures particularly in towns and
cities since he finds he is always judged much less in this way. Since saving auro
he always wants to protect animals but he also remembers (and enjoys) the
destructive tendancies of being an orc, and enjoys remembering the firery bone
strewn camps that he lived in as a child. Through the help from auro, aard has
become fairly good at tracking and now almost has a sixth sence for it.
