PURPOSE:

To partner our organizations to submit an application for grant funding for

the AG foreclosure funding

WHAT WE BRING:

Our organization has four attorneys who are barred in NY (two of which are
barred in federal court). Two of our attorneys are also certified housing
counselors through Neighborworks and they have experience having worked
for two housing organization that currently provide housing assistance. So,
we have the knowledge and expertise needed to do the work.

One of our attorneys is a licensed real estate broker. All of the attorneys are
in private practice.

We have one administrative staff who is working on a volunteer basis. We

have access to numerous. She will assist with reporting and marketing.

WHAT WE DONT HAVE:

We lack an office, supplies, and other basic tools to provide the services. As
such, we will need to either provide services at your site or we will need to
include reasonable rent in an area strategically located to the constituency
we intend to serve.

501(c)(3) status, but the application is fully submitted and is pending (we are
however registered with the AGs and have submitted our 990-N (electronic
filed).

TIME /AREA OF FOCUS:

Depending on the goals of the project, we can have various full and part-time
combinations for our attorneys to provide the services. We will also station
attorneys in various courts in two to three geographic areas (Bronx,
Brooklyn, Queens) which are the hardest hit areas.
Although, one area that people tend to overlook is condo and co-op
foreclosures, which are rampant in NY County. We can make that a focus of
our presentation and I believe that will separate our proposal from others.

GRANT SUBMISSION ASSISTANCE / WHAT ARE YOUR OBJECTIVES:

Where are you currently at with the grant submission process? Have you
partially completed the application? Have you obtained grants for this
service before? What are your programs levels (staff, cases, etc.)

We can provide assistance with writing the grant. Let know where you need
to supplement, etc.

Will you be submitting a housing grant with legal consulting or a legal grant
with housing assistance? I dont recall if one agency can submit two
applications.

PARTNERSHIP / FUTURE :

We want to be included in the grant as partners who will be receiving a

portion of the grant funding.

Do you typically write contracts with your subgrantees? The AGs may bind
both organizations.

Wed like to maintain a strong partnership so as to apply for other funding

regarding financial assistance (consumer debt/bankruptcy) and other legal
services which your community needs.
