PNEUMOCOCCAL VACCINE
- Pneumococcos is the most common cause of pneumonia.
- Pneumococcal vaccine is a 23 valent preparation containing purified capsular polysaccharide
of the serotypes;
- administered intramuscularly as a single 0.5 ml dose
FLU VACCINE
- Influenza predisposes individuals to bacterial pneumonia.
- Annual vaccination
- Contains 3 influenza virus strains: H3N2 virus, AH1N1 virus and influenza B virus
- Administered at a dose of 0.5 ml intramuscularly
BCG (Bacillus calmette guerine)
- Given at birth intrademally
- Given at a dose of 0.05ml
- Protection against TB (tubercolosis)
PENTA VACCINE (diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis, polio, Hib vaccine)
- 5 in 1 vaccine administered intramuscularly 0.5 ml/ dose for 3 doses
1. It serves as the most convenient and safest preventive care measures for protection against
vaccine- preventable diseases.
-Skipping vaccines will leave an individual be vulnerable to illnesses or infections that may
cause diseases like cough. Thus, it plays a vital role in keeping an individual healthy.
4. It helps to protect the health of the community, especially those people who cannot be
immunized (children who are too young to be vaccinated, or those who cant receive certain
vaccines for medical reasons), and the small proportion of people who dont respond to a
particular vaccine.
