PROJECT MANAGEMENT

OPER 4016EL

CRITIQUE OF GROUP H

MARCH 17, 2017

FROM: GROUP E
Critique of Group H Implementation Plan by Group E

Group H prepared a professional looking report. The report is well laid out with clear headings,
content and also incorporating charts where needed.
Purpose and summary
The project overview is clearly established, with mention of budget, schedule and overall result
of the project in the report. It would have been good to see the budget amount included in this
section and also to let the readers know what stage of the project they are working on currently.
Scope & Objective
This section lacks details in regards to the scope of the project. There are some details that are
listed in the summary, however, it would be suggested that more information regarding the
project be added to this section. For example, what types of greenery and how high of a fence is
to be installed?
Control System
Pertaining to the quality control, it is suggested to make a risk response plan as well. This would
include what potential risk may arise during the project, the impact of these risk, the likelihood
of their occurrence, their degree of impact, who is responsible for monitoring the potential risks,
and how you will respond to these risks. The document control was good, only changes to me
made is capitalizing F which is currently a lower-case letter.
Steps and Baseline Schedule
Group H did a great job with both sections. Their explanation and readability if critical path was
well written. The baseline schedule was done very well with the required information, in general
this section was well done.
Progress Reports
The description of group H progress reporting was well done. As a suggestion, group H should
clearly state if these reports that are being presented will be done at a meeting or if they will just
hand them in. If the reports are to be presented during the meeting, then they should consider a
proposed agenda for how the meetings will run. This would include the topic to be discuss, the
length of time, and who will be responsible for discussing the topics.
Project team roles and responsibilities
Group H should have listed the responsibilities of each team member right next to the team
members name in the table provided, rather than providing the duties below the table. Doing so
would enable the client to see the team member and his/her responsibility concurrently, and
would not have to go to back and forth. This would also eliminate the redundancy of listing each
team members title twice. Group H should not provide contact number for each team member.
There should be only one person (project manager) assigned to communicate with the client.
Having each member communicate directly with the client could increase the likelihood that
information he/she received from the client is not shared with other team members
inadvertently or deliberately. The better approach is that project manager be the one designated
to communicate with the client and he/she then shares the details of the communication with the
rest of the team.
Contact person for the project and contact details
Group H should designate project manager as the person responsible for
communicating/collaborating with the client, and not construction manager. Project manager is
the project lead and he/she should be the contact person for the client. Thereafter the project
manager should discuss the clients queries and concerns with the project team.
Confidentiality Agreement
It would be suggested that instead of both parties agreeing not to disclose any information
pertaining to the financial terms agreed upon, other terms be also added. For example, any
information pertaining to financial or any contractual terms agreed upon in the contract.
The last sentence is a bit confusing instead, it is suggested that the following wording be used:
GHC Contracting prohibits any disclosure or duplication of the information contained within
this document to any third party
Do the Development Director and Project manager have last names instead of just initials?
Including last names would make the document more official and legally binding.
Performance Evaluation -Not Included in Report
It is recommended that group H should include how the overall performance will be evaluated
So, for example, will the group have a post-project meeting after the entire project is completed
and reviewed with the customers. The customers assessment of the groups work and should
provide feedback along with comments. Another idea would be to provide the customers with
surveys about the performance of the group and assess their level of satisfaction.
Group H did a great job with just a few technical mistakes. Lastly performance evaluation is
missing in the document; suggesting to add this section to the final implementation plan.
