    OneoftheadvantagesofOpenStudioisthatitaddsmodernobjectorientedsoftwareconceptssuchasrelationshipsandinheritancetoEnergyPlus.Thismakesit
    mucheasiertoaddnewfunctionalitytotoolsorwritemeasuresthatcanquicklymanipulateenergymodels.Fromapractitioner'sperspective,inheritancemakesit
    veryeasytoquicklycreatenewmodels.WhenyouareusingOpenStudiotemplatestodefinebuildingandspacetypes,youareusingthiscapabilityto
    avoidspecifyingthehundredsorthousandsofpiecesofinformationEnergyPlusrequirestocreateadetailedsimulation.

    orobjects.Ifthefieldvalueisblankwherethereddotis,thetranslatorlooksattheobjectwheretheyellowcircleis,andcontinuesthisuntiltheendofthepath.The
    abilityforobjectstoinheritvaluesfromelsewhereinthemodelallowsforquickglobalchanges,andforcustomizationofanyindividualobjectinthemodel.
