Procedure
Students will enter the room and go directly to their seats. Seat assignments will begin the year as
an alphabetical assignment in order to learn student names. After this time period student will be
allowed to sit where they please as long as learning is not hindered. If this issue arises a seating
arrangements will be made.
Students will have a daily bellringer or similar assignment. This may be seen in a variety of ways
such as kahoot, quizizz.com, etc.
I will do both a visual scan and will also call out names while students are completing their
bellringer. Visual scan may be all that is required especially if a seating chart is in place.
Tardiness occurs when students have yet to enter the room by the ringing of the tardy bell. First
time offenses will be issued a warning, all offenses after that will be marked as tardy. Classroom
consequences will fall into line with school policy.
Previously absent students are responsible for all missed work. There will be a makeup folder at
the front for each class that will hold worksheets, handouts, etc. for missed students. Makeup tests
will be given before school or during break unless school has mandated time for such instances.
During announcements students will remain silent and respectful. All classroom rules are to be
followed during this time as well.
If possible textbooks will be distributed to all students in order to promote outside reading. If
students have electronic textbooks and internet access hard copies will be kept in the classroom as
backups for any students who may not have their device on a given day.
Class Management

Out of room policy To limit this issue six hall passes will be given at the beginning of the semester. Once these are
(bathroom, locker, etc) gone they are gone and students will then only leave the room in an emergency.

Pencil sharpening/Throwing Students should sharpen pencils at the beginning of class before tardy bell and students should
trash away/getting tissues wait until class is over to dispose of trash. Tissues will be at the front of the classroom and students
are welcome to step outside to use these.

Emergency procedures Emergency procedures will be addressed by using the intercom to alert the office to ask for
assistance. In severe situations first aid can and will be administered as I am both CPR and first aid
certified. Emergency procedures addressing fire, tornado, and intruder alerts will be on a diagram
by the door.

Expected student behavior General student behavior will be in alignment with classroom rules. Respect for others, talking
(general) only with permission or when spoken to, and remaining in ones seat will be expected at all times.

Use of technology not related to Use of technology in this case is strictly prohibited unless given permission. Students found texting
instructional activity during class will be asked to turn their phone off and place it on my desk. They may retrieve it
when class is over.

Student contact with teacher Students are to never touch anything on my desk unless asked to. Most all materials students will

revoked if it becomes an issue under desk, or on the floor. No blowing bubbles! Hats are not

Hall passes Students will receive six hall passes a semester for locker and bathroom visits. Non-refundable and
do not carry over from one semester to the next.

Substitutes Substitutes are to be treated with the same respect as the regular teacher if not more. Failure to
provide said respect could result in severe punishment and revoking of privileges.

Class Interruptions Class interruptions should be handled by the class by exhibiting standard rule following
procedures.

Instructional Procedures and

Paper Work
What will students bring to class Students should always bring their notebook with paper and pen to class. If textbooks or
/ what to do about missing computers are distributed they will be expected to bring them as well. Extra paper and pencils will
items be provided at the front of the classroom for students who may have forgotten theirs. This ensures
class flows smoothly without interruption.

How will they get your attention Students will get the teachers attention by simply raising their hand.

Paper heading All papers will be headed with a minimum of name, date, and class period.

Pen/pencil, neatness Students may write in pencil, or in blue or black ink. Neatness is urged but will not be strictly
enforced unless I simply cannot read the assignment.

Incomplete assignments Students who do not complete assignments fully will receive partial credit of 50% or 75%. If a
student has completed less than 50% of an assignment who will receive a grade of 1%.

Handing out papers/Taking up I will assign a student to hand out papers. I will gather papers at the front of each row. If papers
papers (who, what, where) are to be turned in students will have a specified spot at the front of the class for their individual
period.

What about make up work or

late work? Makeup work is the responsibility of the student. Handouts and worksheets will be in the class
folder at the front of the room. Students have three days to makeup assignments after returning to
school. Late work will be taken up to four days late with a letter grade deduction each day.

receive their papers.

Fire, disaster and intruder drills Drills will be conducted as if the real thing has occurred. All classroom rules apply during the drill.
Diagrams showing the drills and instructions will be placed dually on both the bulletin board and
