Nodes are specific to the progression of the dome.

Each beam and node are marked with identifiers.

With a center Quad Pod in place and a chainfall,

lift the structure to begin the dome shape.

Sheeting of the dome and adding appurtenances as the

construction progresses allows the work do be done at low
elevation, eliminating need for tie off during process.

Quad pods have a working range vertically and by

weight. These have a 2-ton capacity.

Plumb bob from center node helps to prevent dome

from migrating off center as each new ring is added.

Using the right size straps and having them wrapped

to protect against fraying and premature wear.

For larger domes, lightweight Quad Pods are only

viable to a certain point.

Heavy duty Steel Tri Pods are used from this point
with a 4 ton chainfall.

Temporary half nodes are sometimes used for the final

ring, to allow clearance of the tank shell during lifting.

This illustrates the tight clearances of the final ring. Keeping

the dome centered during construction is very important.

Lifting arms are mounted to the wind girder at set

points. Long-fall chain falls are used to hoist the
dome into position. 27 for this 215 dome.

Crews are installing the final beams and sliding shoes

with dome at elevation. Half nodes are changed out
after all non lifting nodes are anchored.

Global AST Solutions Provider Since 1978

Half nodes are removed and replaced with standard

nodes and beams to anchor the dome completely.
This illustrates a sliding mount.
