Perception about the Current Philippine Government

Our elected president, Rodrigo Roa Duterte, had gained his supporters through a
peculiar type of political campaign showing his true self. He had no pretentions, no
lies. Just plain who and what he is. It was effective. How? Well, he won.
Given that he is transparent and vocal, which are actually good qualities for a
politician to possess, should the president act according to that standard? Of
course, yes. But status quo dictates that Pres. Duterte had took it way too much.
If our government would resemble a relationship, it would be one called as its
complicated.
Instead of having a single government to govern our country, it seems like its all
falling apart, creating divisions which would destroy each other eventually to gain
power. And the trend continues even up to the local governments.
One thing that I had observed is that politics had begun to be the second home of
used-to-be celebrities. Even those potentially unqualified, although civilly qualified,
conquered majority of positions in the government. Which lead to be their training
ground for future purposes.
Its truly a mystery how to figure out how the human mind works; especially if that
human pertains to President Duterte. His impulsiveness and vulgarity had already
cost the country much, financially and socially. Investors had backed out and
potential investors had declined. He remains inconsistent with what he says to what
he does. And you couldnt always reason with his so called sickness as he claims he
is always on his lucid interval.
However, we should not neglect the fact that his patriotism and love for the country
is immeasurable. We have to give him credit for that. But the thing is, we still need
help. And what he wants is to totally be independent of other countries in order to
progress. Economically, we are not stable. Just look at the value of a peso to a dollar
right now. It had never been this low until now until his administration right now.
Ever since he declared infamous war-on-drugs, the issue of extrajudicial killings had
been brought up. It lead to our country being feared of, hence declining tourist rates
in the country. He made statements regarding putting the law in the hands of
anyone who needs it. And shall answer for charges that may occur. But hate to
break it but that is plain hypocrisy. How can he be charged for such cases? He is the
president for Christs sakes. He has the right to impunity he is immune from suits!
Our government should be similar to a human body. Inside, there are various
divisions, systems rather, that WORK TOGETHER in order to do anything smoothly
and with lesser flaws. I think our government is still thrice a quarter away from
achieving coordination.
But who am I to tell? Who are we to judge? What President Duterte says, President
Duterte does. Proof? Change. Ladies and gentlemen, change has already come.
