Outline

For the Summer Program 2017, Module Based Sessions will be

conducted. A comprehensive, step wise outline would be
prepared to formulate sessions on each issue. This would be
done to eliminate overlapping of tasks with the ones done in the
previous programmes and advancing the work done on each
topic by the organisation.

IMPLEMENTATION OF THE MODULES

For issues such as Menstruation (for women), Financial &
Functional Literacy (for men and women), Caste (Children),
Gender (Children), and General Awareness (Children), Dhani
wise levels have been formulated. The levels have been
developed by using inputs from the previous programs, and
would assist in determining which kind of activities to
implement where.

For Examples - Malliyon Ki Dhani ( Gender - Level 1) . Since

the level of the children in the Dhani is already known for this
topic, activities which fit their level would be implemented
there to avoid overlapping. Level 1 corresponds to low
involvement, knowledge and awareness in the children,
therefore activities which cater only to these characteristics
would be carried out.

2
From the final modules, session plans would be picked and
assigned to various Dhanis on the basis of their level of
understanding of that particular issue.

For common issues such as Nutrition, Sanitation & Substance

Abuse one uniform comprehensive module would be applied to
all the Dhanis and no levels have been defined for any Dhani.

3
Menstruation (Women)
For each dhani, the following parameters have been used for
assessment. Starting from Level 1 to Level 4, in ascending order.
Based on the analysis of Scientific Knowledge, Absence of Taboos
and Usage of Pads/Clean Cloth, overall level has been assigned to
each Dhani.

These levels would be used to focus on specific menstruation

sessions. For example - Dagdiyon Ki Dhani (Level 1), would be
taught extensively about Level 1 things, that is, the biology of
menstruation.

LEVEL 1
Biological Explanation.

LEVEL 2
Counters to Taboos - Scientific and Gender Based.

LEVEL 3
Using Pads/Clean Cotton Cloth- Importance, Demonstration.

LEVEL 4
Menstrual Hygiene - Infections, Irregularities and Diseases and
Remedies for the same.

Level 1 implies that they have no prior knowledge on menstrual

health and need to begin with the biological know how. It coincides
with low receptiveness and attention span.
4
Level 2 implies that the women know the biological know how but
strictly believe in taboos and do not have hygienic menstrual
practices.

Level 3 Implies that they do not wear pads and don't believe in
taboos and have the biological know how.

Level 4 They have biological understanding,do not believe in taboos

and wear pads. The women are extremely receptive, keen, high
retention and have implemented what they are taught in the past in
the sessions.

On the basis of the parameters above each dhani has been assigned a
Start Stage or a Level from 1-4.

The session will be conducted by matching the level in the module

with the level of the dhani in the given table, as mentioned earlier.

Gender, Caste and General
Awareness (Children)

Gender
Slightly different activities will be designed to cater to different
levels of Gender problems across Dhanis with children. They will
differ in their approach, number of sessions devoted for it, et cetera.
Levels for the Gender sessions with children are defined as follows-

High- Don't talk or play with the other gender; visible sense of
superiority in boys.

Moderate- Talk and play but hesitate to come in physical contact,

casual sense of superiority in boys.

Low- Comfortably play and understand the concept of equality.

Different Dhanis have been labelled as per these levels using

pre-defined parameters. The session plans will be implemented by
matching the level of the dhani. High, Moderate, Low help in
defining the need of a session on the topic by assessing the extent of
that problem. Furthermore, these sessions are also developed by
looking at the General Understanding level of the children of the
Dhani.

7
For example - Ganeshpura (Gender - High), since the gender
problem in Ganeshpura is immense, given their general
understanding ( From table - 1 low), a lot of focus would be put on
gender using simpler methods to match the understanding level of
the children in Ganeshpura.

Caste
Slightly different activities will be designed to cater to different
levels of Gender problems across Dhanis with children. They will
differ in their approach, number of sessions devoted for it, et cetera.
Levels for the Gender sessions with children are defined as follows-

High- Dont talk or play with kids of other castes; visible sense of
superiority.

Moderate- Talk, hesitate to play or come in physical contact with

kids of other caste; casual sense of superiority.

Low- Comfortably play and understand the concept of equality

Different Dhanis have been labelled as per these levels using

pre-defined parameters. The session plans will be implemented by
matching the level of the dhani. High, Moderate, Low help in
defining the need of a session on the topic by assessing the extent of
that problem. Furthermore, these sessions are also developed by
looking at the General Understanding level of the children of the
Dhani.

8
For example - Ganeshpura (Caste - High), since the caste problem
in Ganeshpura is immense, given their general understanding ( From
table - 1 low), a lot of focus would be put on caste using simpler
methods to match the understanding level of the children in
Ganeshpura.

Education and General Awareness

The Education and General Awareness Sessions will be divided into
three levels of understanding. For the purpose of clarity in terms of
the sessions which may be conducted for each level, sample
9
activities have been defined for each level along with the basic
definition of the level itself. The outline of the levels are as follows -

LEVEL 1
Low attention span coupled with blunt cognitive skills; low level of
understanding.

LEVEL 2
Reasonable understanding and fairly receptive and responsive.

LEVEL 3
Excellent understanding; very receptive and responsive children.

Using the above parameters, the following Dhani levels have been
gauged as follows -

Financial Literacy

The immense scope of Financial Literacy, makes it

imperative to develop a systematic approach to conduct these
sessions. Given below is a streamline for the same -

LEVEL 1 - BASIC KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge about their bank A/c
Functions of a bank
DBTs, AADHAAR Linkage
Government schemes

LEVEL 2 - OPERATIONAL KNOWLEDGE

Depositing money
Withdrawing money
Passbook entries
Using a cheque
