1. PLANNING INFORMATION

CAUTION

THIS SERVICE BULLETIN WAS DRAWN UP BASED


ON THE ORIGINAL HELICOPTER CONFIGURATION
(AS DEFINED IN INDIVIDUAL INSPECTION
RECORD (RIC)). IT TAKES INTO ACCOUNT ALL
AIRBUS HELICOPTERS-APPROVED CONFIGURA-
TION CHANGES MADE AFTER DELIVERY,
PROVIDED THAT AIRBUS HELICOPTERS WAS
ADVISED THEREOF. IT DEVOLVES ON THE
OPERATOR TO CHECK THE COMPATIBILITY OF
ANY MODIFICATIONS WITH THE CURRENT
AIRCRAFT CONFIGURATION. IN CASE OF
INCOMPATIBILITY, IT DEVOLVES ON THE USER
TO DESIGN THE NECESSARY ADAPTATIONS AND
HAVE THEM APPROVED BY THE AIR TRANSPORT
AUTHORITIES IN THE COUNTRY CONCERNED,
AND TO ENSURE AIRWORTHINESS FOLLOW-UP
THEREOF.

1.A. EFFECTIVITY

1.A.1. Helicopters/installed equipment or parts

Helicopters equipped with an electrical magnetic chip detector P/N 1B373 (704A34543009) which do not
embody modification OP7245 (Optional manual magnetic chip detector with bayonnet locking on the
conical housing) and which embody, for helicopter version B2, modification 076120 (main rotor mast
assembly with 4-contact bearing).

NOTE

Refer to the aircraft individual inspection record (RIC AMS)


and the aircraft log book to identify the actual modification
status of the aircraft.

Electrical magnetic plug P/N 1B373 (704A34543009).

1.C. REASON

The purpose of this Service Bulletin is to replace the electrical chip detector of the conical housing by a
1/4-turn magnetic plug.

1.D. DESCRIPTION

This Service Bulletin consists in:


- removing the electrical magnetic-plug,
- installing the manual 1/4-turn magnetic plug.

1.E. COMPLIANCE

Compliance with this Service Bulletin is left to the Operator's initiative.

Approval of modifications:

The information or instructions relate to modification OP7245 which was approved


on September 01, 2016 under the authority of EASA Design Organization Approval No. 21J.700 for
helicopters of civil versions subject to an Airworthiness Certificate.

The information or instructions relate to modification OP7245 which was approved


on September 01, 2016 under the prerogatives of the recognition of design capability FRA21J-002-DGA for
French Government helicopters.

Approval of this document:

The technical information contained in this Service Bulletin No. 62.00.36 Revision 0 was approved
on February 22, 2017 under the authority of EASA Design Organization Approval No. 21J.700 for helicopters
of civil versions subject to an Airworthiness Certificate.

The technical information contained in this Service Bulletin No. 62.00.36 Revision 0 was approved
on February 22, 2017 under the prerogatives of the recognition of design capability FRA21J-002-DGA for

For compliance with this Service Bulletin, Airbus Helicopters recommends the following personnel
qualifications:

Qualification: 1 Mechanical Technician,

Time for the operations is indicated for reference, for a standard configuration.

Time for the operations: 4 hours approximately for Mechanical Technician.

The estimated helicopter downtime is half a day.

3. ACCOMPLISHMENT INSTRUCTIONS

3.A. GENERAL

- Comply with general electrical power instructions as per Task 24-00-00, 3-1 (AMM).
- Comply with general mechanical instructions as per Task 60-00-00, 3-1 (AMM).
- Comply with instructions for use of oils as per Work Card 20.01.01.302 (MTC).
- Comply with instructions for safetying with lockwire as per Work Card 20.02.06.402 (MTC).
- Comply with general instructions for installation of seals on mechanical or hydraulic assemblies and
replacement of components on structure and transmission assemblies as per Work Card 20.02.08.410
(MTC).
- Comply with general sealing methods as per Work Card 20.05.01.101 (MTC).
- Comply with sealing compound application instructions as per Work Card 20.05.01.102 (MTC).
- Comply with PR 1776 B2 / 1776 S sealing compound application instructions as per Work
Card 20.05.01.223 (MTC).

3.B. WORK STEPS

3.B.1. Preliminary steps

- Park helicopter in hangar.


- Install suitable access equipment.
- Disconnect all electrical power supplies.
- Remove equipment and furnishings as required for access to work zones.
- Remove upper cowling as per Task 53-51-00, 4-1 (AMM).

3.B.2. Procedure

3.B.2.a. Removal of electrical magnetic plug (Figures 1 and 2)

- Disconnect the wire 1WW5F with pin from the cannon plug A of module 31W as per Figure 1.
- Install tubing (1) on cable 1WW5F.
- Disconnect cable 1WW18NE from terminal of module 31W.
- Install tubing (2) on cable 1WW18NE.
- Bind cables 1WW5F and 1WW18NE on existing cables using binding clamps (8) towards electrical
valve 21D (installed on aircraft) for helicopters in single hydraulics version or 3D2-P1 (installed on
aircraft) for helicopters in dual hydraulics versions.
- Cut and discard lockwire (a) as per Figure 2 PRE MOD.
- Remove and store magnetic plug (b).
- Check for chips as per Task 60-00-00, 6-2 (AMM).
- Remove and discard O-ring (c).

3.B.2.b. Installation of manual magnetic plug (Figure 2 POST MOD)

- Check of the magnetization of magnetic plug (4) as per Task 60-00-00, 6-4 (AMM).
- Apply oil (7) to magnetic plug (4).
- Install O-ring (3) and magnetic plug (4).
- Tighten magnetic plug (4) to specified torque.
- Safety magnetic plug (4) with lockwire (5).
- Apply sealant (6) on periphery of magnetic plug (4).

3.B.3. Tests

Not applicable.

3.B.4. Final steps

- Clean and recondition work zone and aircraft as per Work Card 20.07.03.408 (MTC).
- Install equipment and furnishings which were removed during preliminary steps (Paragraph 3.B.1.).
- Install upper cowling as per Task 53-51-00, 4-1 (AMM).
- Reconnect electrical power supplies.
- Clear access equipment.
- Set helicopter into flight condition.

3.B.5. Ground run/flight test

Not applicable.

3.C. COMPLIANCE CONFIRMATION

Compliance with this document:

Record full compliance with this Service Bulletin No. 62.00.36 Revision 0 in the helicopter documents.

Tracking of modifications in the documentation:

Record embodiment of modification OP7245 in the helicopter documents.
