Stem Cell is an undifferentiated cell of a multicellular organism that is capable of giving

rise to infinitely more cells of the same type, and from which certain other kinds of cell arise by

differentiation. Stem cells can replace old stem cells with new ones and they also dont have a

specific function. Stem Cells have the ability to able develop into many different types of cells.

They can also stay as a stem cells or become a tissue/organ cells. Stem Cell have two main

sources which are Embryos that forms during the blastocyst phase of the embryological and the

Adult tissues. Embryonic stem cell are developed within four to five days to develop a human

embryo. The Adult stem cell can divide himself or self-renew indefinitely.

After a while of researching I found out more about stem cell on they could work and

more about how they function. They could treat people with diabetes and they could also repair

damages after a heart attack. Stem Cell can also replace neurons damaged by spinal cord injuries

or strokes. I also found out that scientist made a theory where there are no limit to the types of

diseases that could be treated with stem cells.

There are two types of stem cells. The first cell is an embryonic. Embryonic are

undifferentiated and preimplantation embryo cell that can stay in culture without differentiating.

The second cell is the Somatic. The somatic is a rare unidentified cell found in organs with

limited renewal and differentiation. Differentiation limited to the cell types where they are found.

The difference between these cell are that the somatic is rarer than the Embryonic.
There are some differences between the adult stem cell to the embryonic. Both of these

two have different types of functions for the body. One of the major difference between these

two are that they have different abilities in the numbers and types they can become. The stem

cell can become any type of cell and the embryonic are limited to different types of cells.

Another thing that is different between the two is that the embryonic stem cell can easily grow in

culture and the adult stem cell can be harder for the cell to grow because of the mature tissues.

And all Stem Cells are able to divide and renew themselves for long periods of time and they can

also give rise to specialized cell types.

Some definition that I have are Pluripotent which can make up all cell types in the body,

the three germ layers another one is Multipotent which can develop into more than one type of

cell, but more limited than pluripotent. The last one is totipotent which can form all cells in the

body, including a full human.

One article that I found that gave me more information about stem cells is Stem Cells:

The secret to change. The article was made by Alison Stevens and it was made in April 10, 2013.

In the first half of the article they talk about how special the stem cell is and how how scientists

are excited because of the remarkable abilities the stem cells have and they're also hoping one

day they could use the stem cells to repair or replace many different types of tissues that are

injured or damaged by some type of disease. The second part of the article talks about different

types of stem cells and the last part talks about how was stem cells discovery. The article

basically gave me more information about stem cells in generally.

In conclusion there is a lot I learned about stem cells like it could affect us and what can

it do for us. I also learn about more about how an adult stem cell works. In generally I learn

about stem cells can function and how It can help us out in the near future.
